When we put out the call for new program hosts earlier this year, 9,735 people signed up to audition—our largest group ever! And whittling down those applicants to just the four hosts we needed was a feat in itself, especially because the talent pool was the best we’ve ever seen.
We worked with a casting agency in New York to help narrow down our selection to several hundred people. We then held two three-day auditions, one in Los Angeles and one in New York. From those groups we found the “best of the best,” and 19 people were selected to come to QVC in West Chester, Pennsylvania, to audition with our team.
Finally, after three days of intense screening, we found our four. Clearly, they’re all beautiful. And funny and dedicated, too. But they’re all so happy to be here, they were more than willing to take a few moments to tell us about themselves.
InsideQ: Do you ever get nervous on air?
Kristine: I never got a case of the nerves, but not having a teleprompter and learning all of these new techniques and skills the nerves have come back. I always just say a little prayer that the good Lord will help me to think and speak clearly and remember what I know.
InsideQ: What was the first thing you bought as a new host?
Kristine: It was an AnyBody® Loungewear Cozy Knit maxi tank dress.
InsideQ: What do you hope the future holds for you at QVC?
Kristine: A long, successful run. I hope to become a household name and work here until I retire. I want this to be my home for the rest of my career. I want to be well respected and liked by my co-workers and the viewers.
InsideQ: Do you ever get nervous on air?
Mary: I haven’t been nervous on-air in years, but those feelings managed to flare up through the training process at QVC! When I get nervous, I try to remember to take a deep breath and focus on the center of the camera lens. That tends to settle my nerves, and makes me feel like I’m having a regular conversation with a friend.
InsideQ: Any funny bloopers?
Mary: The most embarrassing thing to happen so far wasn’t on camera—it happened during a break. The other new hosts and I were buzzing around the QVC Studio Store. I veered off to use the restroom. I walked in and noticed legs underneath a stall, and thought, “Those are large shoes…” Then I looked up and thought, “Why are there urinals in the women’s restroom?” Needless to say, I soon figured out where I was… and hightailed it out of there!
InsideQ: What do you hope the future holds for you at QVC?
Mary: I hope my future here is experience-rich. I want to meet wonderful people and hear their stories, make memories, and, above all, make an impact even in the smallest ways… like laughing and learning together!
InsideQ: How did you feel when you were selected from a field of nearly 10,000 applicants?
Courtney: Amazing! I honestly didn’t think I was going to get it. I was shocked and overwhelmed with joy. I don’t think my feet have touched the ground yet. I feel so lucky to be here.
InsideQ: Any funny bloopers?
Courtney: We have shared a lot of laughs so far. I think my managers got a lot of laughs out of my first Skype audition. I don’t even remember what I said. I was rambling because I was so excited and nervous!
InsideQ: What was the first thing you bought as a new host?
Courtney: I bought a Diamonique® ring during the audition process. My first purchase as a new host was makeup from IT Cosmetics.

InsideQ: Do you ever get nervous on air?
Cathy: I do get nervous sometimes, but the nerves don’t help me when on air so I try to find ways around it, whether it be a cup of tea, doing some jumping jacks if I’m overly excited, or simply gathering my thoughts to calm the nerves.
InsideQ: What was the first thing you bought as a new host?
Cathy: I had shopped at QVC before becoming a host, but once it became official the girls and I went straight to the QVC Studio Store during our lunch break and I bought a Diamonique emerald-cut band ring along with philosophy 3-in-1 marzipan dreams shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath.
InsideQ: What do you hope the future holds for at QVC?
Cathy: I hope to have a long history at QVC. In my short time here I’ve fallen in love with the products and teams, from the people who design the graphics to those who seek out the trends and run the shows behind the scenes—even the cafeteria chefs are awesome. I love coming to work every day, whether it’s office time or on-air, so I hope I can continue to do what I love for decades to come.
