David's Turkey Burgers

David Venable

Prep Time: 30–40 minutes

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 egg whites, whisked
  • 1-1/2 Tbsp dry steak seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup ground pork rinds
  • Hamburger rolls, for serving (optional)

Directions

Preheat your grill or outdoor griddle on high heat. If you don’t have a grill, this recipe can be cooked in a skillet.

Using your hands, thoroughly combine all the ingredients except the hamburger rolls in a large mixing bowl. Be careful not to over-knead the ground turkey; overmixing may make your burgers become tough. Form the turkey mixture into 3/4”-thick patties.

If using a grill, cook the burgers over high heat until the internal temperature reaches 170°F. If using the stovetop, cook the burgers in a skillet over medium-high heat until the internal temperature reaches 170°F. Remove the burgers from the grill and place on hamburger buns. Top with your favorite condiments and serve.

Cook's Notes

If you’re not a fan of pork rinds, feel free to substitute them with 1/2 cup of Italian breadcrumbs and salt to taste.
