Rated 3 out of 5 by from Still experimenting! Power adapter a big concern. My first batch of basic vanilla ice cream was too soft, however it hardened nicely after I put it in the freezer. The recipe called for heavy cream and half and half. Way too rich and milky for my taste. The vanilla flavor was barely discernible. I did not use egg substitute. So today I’m trying again with chocolate frozen yogurt. I chilled the ingredients for over an hour first. It’s been almost 90 minutes and it’s still churning but looking more solid. It will get better, as I keep trying, I’m sure. My biggest concern is the power adapter. It gets very hot! I’m thinking of ordering another adapter, just in case this one burns out. Are replacement parts available?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for someone who lives alone. This great little machine has added a lot of fun to my summer of isolation. One batch serves me, with enough for another day of two. I love experimenting with different flavors. I used the cook book until I became comfortable with the machine and then I took off on my own! I had an older machine that required putting the bowl in the freezer. I never had enough room in there. This is my favorite thing about this one. It stays on the counter, ready to go anytime.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dud The ice cream maker never worked. Turns on, but paddle doesn't turn. I only gave this two stars because It was light weight and I had high hopes for it. Have returned it, but they haven't given me a refund. In fact, doesn't look like they will.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Ice Cream Maler This machine is well packed upon delivery. It was very easy to use, quiet and only takes 45-60mins to make ice cream and takes up little counter space. The recipe book helps out to make whatever you choose. I am glad that I updated to this ice cream maker which, I use all the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST LITTLE MACHINE EVER! I am having so much fun with this little machine. I, too, had issues about getting paddle to turn the first time. You have to make sure you push down again after you put the paddle in, and then also make sure the two magnetic dots align at the front of the machine when you put the top unit on. Once I did that, it worked properly. I've made at least 10 batches since I've had the machine, and have given some of it away. I love using fresh fruit for sorbets and sherbets, and can control the sugar content. Great little machine and so much fun during these summer months.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally made an Ice Cream Maker purchase! I am very happy with my Cooks Essential Ice Cream Maker! The only reason I give a 4 instead of a 5 is the size (I would give 4.5 if I could), if it was double the serving size it would be perfect. I have no space for a freezer bowl so this is perfect for me. I have made a couple batches so far and am very happy I can now make my own ice cream without all the crap the store bought ice cream contains. Even the best organic clean-brands have gums and too much sugar in them. I can now make a healthy ice cream with collagen protein, Guilt-free indulgence. It will pay for itself quickly since the average pints I buy in the store are from $6 - $9 each. it does take some time to make though it is completely worth it. Making my next batch this weekend!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worthless I was so excited to receive this ice cream maker! I read the owner's manual from beginning to end. I bought all the products to make my ice cream and mixed them together. I followed the instructions and disassembled the top and washed the clear dome, paddle and nut with warm soapy water and wiped out the inside of the bowl. I got everything back together, plugged in the machine, (the red power light came on), poured in my ice cream mixture, pushed the soft serve button and watched with great disappointment as the motor came on and the paddle didn't turn. I thought I may have done something wrong reassembling it, so I turned it off, took it apart and reassembled it once more. No movement. Then I thought maybe the paddle doesn't turn until the bowl begins to chill. Went back through the owners manual, not a word about the paddle turning or not turning. I'm done with the crappy kitchen appliance you people sell, This is the second one (different appliance) in a row that I received defective! I want a refund!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine I had ice cream machines that had to freeze the bowls and they didn’t last long. I always wanted this kind of machine and I am so glad I bought it. I have 1 quart ice containers so I use 2 bowls and put the same ingredients In each one cover them both and chill in fridge. Then I run 1 batch in the machine. When it done I put the ice cream in my container and put It in my freezer. Then I stir up the mixture in the second bowl and run it though the machine. When done I put it on top of the first batch in my container and when frozen I have a quart of delicious homemade ice cream. I love it!
