Tropical Fruit-Infused Iced Tea

David Venable

There's a time and place for classic iced tea. But, there's also a time and place for a fruity, flavorful tea like this. Think backyard barbecue or mid-winter pick-me-up!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 12 mango-or other tropical fruit-flavored tea bags
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup chopped fresh mango
  • 1 cup chopped fresh strawberries
  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 cup sweetened lemonade

Directions

Pour the water into a large saucepan and bring it to a boil. Turn off the heat and add the tea bags. Let the tea steep for 10 minutes, then discard the bags. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved.
Pour the sweetened tea into a large pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Put 1 piece each of mango and strawberry in each compartment of two ice cube trays. Fill each compartment with some iced tea and freeze until solid. While the ice cubes are freezing, pour the remaining tea (about 2-1/4 cups), the pineapple juice, orange juice, and lemonade into a large pitcher and refrigerate. When ready to serve, add the ice cubes to the tea mixture. Or, pour the tea into a punch bowl and add the ice cubes. Serve immediately.

Cook's Notes

Feel free to use your favorite tea; it doesn’t have to be flavored. Or, substitute the suggested chopped fruit with other fruits of your preference.
