Cranberry-Orange-Drink Iced Tea

David Venable

Present this as a delicious non-alcoholic beverage option at your next party.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Serves: 9–10 (makes approximately 3 qts)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup cranberry juice (cocktail)
  • 4–6 (12-oz) cans of sparkling Italian orange soda
  • 4–5 black tea bags (or loose tea; 1 Tbsp is about the same as a bag)
  • 1 sprig rosemary
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1–2 star anise pods
  • 24 oz water
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries (optional for garnish)
  • 1 orange, sliced (optional for garnish)

Directions:

In a small pot, bring the water to a boil.

Add the tea bags, rosemary, cinnamon, and anise, then steep for 5–10 min. Strain and let cool.

In a large pitcher or punch bowl, add the cranberry juice, brewed tea, and 4–5 cans of the orange Italian soda.

Garnish with cranberries and sliced oranges. Serve immediately.

Reserve the last can or two of Italian soda to top off if it starts to lose its fizziness.

Cook's Notes

This recipe calls for freshly brewed tea. You can substitute store-bought unsweetened tea, if you prefer.
