NICE BUT HARD TO CLEAN
The basket is beautiful and very well made (as are all the Technique products I own). It fits nicely into my large stock pot and I love the hooks on the side for draining as well as the silicone-coated handle. I have used it several times to cook pasta and love the way you can lift it out and let it drain back into the pot. BUT if tiny pieces break off they get stuck in the tiny holes and are very difficult to get out. I also had trouble cleaning the basket after frying battered chicken. I soaked the basket and finally put it back in the pot and boiled water to release the batter then had to clean it with a brush and sprayer. I have used it as a colander to wash fruit and will use it to cook corn later in the year. I recommend this product but just know that cleaning it might be an issue.

mesh basket
i saw these the other day on cooking with David.... my came and i used one of them to cook battered chicken pieces...... right off the bat the batter stuck to the wire basket when cooking... i really did not like that.... so i soaked the basket over/nite in soap and water... the batter came off... no big deal.. but just to let you know.... the batter will stick to these baskets.....

Great product
I just happened to notice this on a recent In the Kitchen with David and thought of how many ways I could use this. It arrived in a timely manner and I immediately put it to use to cook some eggs. I plan on using it for corn on the cob and much more. Thanks for such a GREAT idea!

Great value
I have been wanting a product like this for a very long time. So glad I saw it on QVC. Better than any pasta pot with insert I've ever bought. I use it for everything: pasta, boiling eggs, deep frying. I even find it very useful to place in the sink and use it as a catch when I am peeling vegetables. Love it and would recommend it to everyone. Very good quality!

Will not fit
my large pot is rounded at the bottom so the mesh basket will not fit all the way down inside my pot

Love it
This mesh basket worked perfectly for making chicken soup. All the chicken pieces, vegetables and herbs lifted out leaving a clean broth. I refrigerate the broth for a day, skim the congealed fat and add veg and pasta or rice. It saved me from straining the broth into a second pot.
I store the basket inside my 8qt. stockpot, so it doesn't take up any space in my pot cabinet.

good and bad
This is beautifully made but it doesn't work in any of my pots! It fits down in but when the water begins to boil the basket bounces up and down, making a lot of noise and splashing water all over if I don't have it in a very large pot. I used it first with pasta and am not sure if I will use it again for that. Hope to try it with corn when that comes in season - maybe that extra weight will hold the basket down. I should have kept the packaging so that I could return it - - - - -

Happy with purchase
Got this used it for boiled eggs, potatoes and spagetti. One review said the spagetti stuck to the sides; mine didn't ( i add a little oil to the water with salt). For people that like their spagetti separate to put the sauce on top ( i don't ) this is great so if the spagetti starts to dry you can then lower the basket back into the hot pasta water to unstick it. Next i am going to deep fry in it. This is a keeper.

Did not work for me
I was excited to receive this, but was so disappointed. It's beautifully made, and the concept seems great, but it just didn't work as I expected. I used it to make pasta, putting it in my large pasta pot. It fit, but rattled around annoyingly while the water boiled. I am wondering if it was because the mesh is so fine that it almost acts like a solid wall. In any event, it rattled loudly the whole time & bounced around inside the pot so much that I ended up with a ton of water splashed all over my stove.
Like a dunce, I threw the box away, so I cannot return it. I will give it one more try, but I think I will use it more as a colander to rinse fruits and veggies rather than as an insert for boiling pasta. Or perhaps for a party hat.

Can't wait to use it!
Just received this today and was really surprised at how sturdy it is, wasn't expecting it to be so heavy weight. Would love to have a smaller one also!

a basket for families
love the basket and it would suit most of my purposes but it's much too big for me. i would love to see a set of 2 baskets for the smallest pot in a set. that i could really use and you feel less annoyed with storage if you use them daily. i like the metal instead of silicone and love the handle.

Perfect For Our Kitchen
We have two of these perfect SS mesh baskets and we use one of them in our 8 quart pressure cooker insert. Buy one - buy TWO. You will NOT be disappointed.
