When you want to try something a little different on the grill, give these flavorful burgers a try!

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Serves: 8

Tzatziki Sauce:

  • 4 seedless cucumbers
  • 2 cups Greek yogurt
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup chopped dill
  • 1/4 cup chopped mint
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp salt

Preparation:

To make the tzatziki sauce, grate the cucumbers, squeeze out any excess liquid, and place the grated cucumbers in a medium-size bowl.

Add the yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, dill, mint, cumin, and salt and mix with the cucumbers until everything is well combined. Place in the refrigerator.

To make the burgers, place the sun-dried tomatoes in a small bowl and cover them with hot water. Allow to sit for 15 minutes to soften the tomatoes, then drain and chop them.

In a medium-size bowl, combine the sun-dried tomatoes, beef, lamb, oregano, black pepper, salt, kalamata olives, feta, and red onion. Divide the mixture into eight balls. Press these out into 1/2"-thick patties and place them on a plate or platter for grilling.

Heat a grill or grill pan on medium-high heat.

Cook the burgers, on the grill or grill pan, to desired doneness.

Place a tomato slice and about 1/2 cup of the lettuce in each pita half. Then, place a burger in each pita half and top with the tzatziki sauce.

Note: There will be extra tzatziki sauce. You can serve this with the burgers or save it for another use.

  • 1-1/2 oz sun-dried tomatoes
  • 1 lb ground beef
