Cereal French Toast Sticks

Cereal French Toast Sticks

Prep Time: 15 to 20 minutes

Serves: 8 to 10

French Toast Batter:

  • 8–10 slices of thick-cut toast
  • 8 eggs
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Preparation

Cut slices of bread into thirds, creating three equal size sticks, a little over an inch wide.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.

Combine the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt, and whisk into the egg mixture.

Transfer egg mixture into a shallow dish. A pie plate works great for this.

Pour the graham cereal into a large re-sealable bag. To crush them, flatten the contents of the bag on the counter and use a rolling pin to break them into little pieces.

Add the sugar and melted butter to the cereal crumbs and mix well in the bag. Pour out into another shallow dish.

Working in batches of 3–4 sticks, soak them in the egg mixture for several seconds, then flip them over and soak the other side.

Then roll them in the crushed cereal, gently pressing the cereal onto them if need be.

Set the coated sticks on a cookie sheet lined with parchment.

Freeze for at least 2 hours. Once frozen, you can put them in bags or a re-sealable plastic container for storage until ready to use.

To cook, set your air fryer to 400°F. Place several French toast sticks in your air fryer, leaving at least an inch of space in between.

Cook for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through to ensure they get crispy on all sides. Serve with maple syrup, for dipping.

Crust:

  • 4-1/2 cups graham squares cereal
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 Tbsp butter, melted
