Bose Companion 2 Series III Multimedia Speaker System is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 166.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from They're Ok, Could Be Better [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These speakers are fine, but they're not really high-fidelity or anything. Sound: They have a sort of hollow and forced mid-range, boomy bass, and harsh/hollow treble. They are a very heavy W-shaped sound signature. Their sound signature may be best for movie watching, but they sound a bit dull. You may want to remove their front sort of mesh cover over the speakers for a better sound, they improve when listening over higher quality audio outputs. It's preferred to keep them a little bit away from the wall, and to not listen to them pointing directing at you at an angle(as it brings out a bit of the hollowness). Their bass goes reasonably deep for their size category, unlike a lot of other cheaper speakers, but they lack a bit of real warmth to the sound. It's overall hollow, muffled, and sizzly, sort of 'cupped.' Design: Some may not like their plastic design, but I think it's ok. They look fine to me, they may look a bit uglier if you decide to remove the front cover though. The volume knob has a good feel to it, and feels a bit premium compared to other models. The enclosure is a bit on the cheaper feeling side though in terms of the plastics used. They overall had a bit of weight to them, and they remain pretty sturdy on the desk without sliding around. Other notes: The cabling on these speakers are rather poor quality. They don't snap in flush and sit at an angle on the back of the speakers instead of sitting straight into the jacks. They are also a bit sensitive, and may cause poor connections to either the computer and/or the secondary speaker. They really should've made he cables better. I think that there are better speakers out there if you have the money to spend, but a lot of other speakers in this size category do not go as low in the bass frequencies as the Bose do, even though it's a little rolled off in that area still. They could sound better though, Bose made these sound a little off. You cannot really fix them with EQ because the response is a little jagged in some places, but like I mentioned above, having a better quality audio output does remove a tiny bit of the hollowness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bose quality! Awesome! For this price point and Bose, you can’t go wrong. They sound phenomenal and the features of having a headphone jack in front and AUX in back for playing music off of something forget than the computer is awesome.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but could be better for the money. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these as my soundbar stopped working. My dad recommended the Bose name so I purchased this set. They are okay but for should be better considering the price.
