Rated 3 out of 5 by Oops The edition with all the seasons including 2015 is available directly for less money as I write this. This edition from the Q came today. It is very heavy as others have said. I wish I had waited or checked options more. That being said, I am grateful that the Q made this available even if it is not the best deal. I imagine that I will keep it. I also have the other two books on order from the Q and look forward to getting them. 07-28-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by New Cook Training Manual Every generation of cooks has its "go to guide" (Fanny Farmer, Joy of Cooking, Betty Crocker). This is for the new generation of cooks for sure. It teaches all the basics with great tips, photos and step by step directions. I purchased this for our son and new daughter-in-law who are learning to cook together. They love the classic dishes but are pleased with updated and new recipes to meet their love of ethnic foods! I am going to order another book for myself as I love America's Test Kitchen tips and tricks. 07-26-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by THIS IS A COOKBOOK PLUS! Not only do I enjoy the recipes, many of which I have seen prepared on Cooks Country, but it's more than recipes. The tips, product comparison, taste test winners, pictures and why these recipes work. Yes, it is heavy, so be prepared. I've probably gone completely through this cookbook 10 times and I always find something interesting that I had missed before. This has become my "go to" cookbook and highly recommend it. 06-23-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Cookbook This book is fantastic. It has step by step instructions which are easy to follow. It has plenty of recipes and pictures as well. This is both good for beginners or home cooks. I would recommend this book. 05-26-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Big Cookbook! This book is big and heavy. It is shipped in a big box so arrives in perfect shape. There are lot and lots of recipes that have many photos and great ideas. I like the sections that tell you how to do things because if a person was never "taught" how to cook, it comes in really handy. I do not make meals for lots of people, so some of the recipes I will use need to be halved, but if you are cooking for a family, it's perfect. 04-06-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by Absolutely Wonderful I love this cookbook! I have been cooking for years (and years). I have cookbooks handed down to me from the 50's, plus newer ones when I got married, and numerous cookbooks I have collected over the years. This is just like some of "how to" cookbooks I have loved over the years, only updated. Everything I have tried so far from soups to desserts has come out just like they said and as good. The tips and reasons are wonderful. And I really like that it tells you "why" you do something. Yes, it is huge and heavy, but I love how well it is designed. Between the pictures, the tips, and the actual order of instructions, I find it well written. This is the cookbook for today's bride, just like my Better Homes and Garden was 30+ years ago. Thank you, America's Test Kitchen! 04-02-15
Rated 4 out of 5 by BOY, THIS IS ONE HEAVY BOOK!!!!! I have problems with my hands. I can hardly lift the book and it keeps falling to the floor. I have yet to completely read a full page. However, the product information and do/don't info. on each page is great. I found out that this comes in a soft cover which i should have waited to buy one the initial frenzy was over. 03-25-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by extremely helpful After cooking more than 50 years, who thought I would find a cookbook like this?? There are so many helpful hints, useful information, things I knew but had forgotten and things I NEVER knew. I LOVE THIS COOKBOOK! We have more than 200 cookbooks at our house, and after going through this book several times, we are going to downsize our collection, but will certainly keep this one. This is my first America's Test Kitchen cookbook and it is a winner. Thank you for such a great book. 03-24-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Cookbook Yes, this is a heavy cookbook. But just look at the wonderful array of recipes!! Most cookbooks by America's Test Kitchen are superb, but this one exceeds superb. Most any recipe you desire can be found in this magnificent cookbook. So, grow a few muscles girls, and purchase this fine cookbook. Really, it's the only cookbook you would ever need. The rest are just taking up shelf space. Look at the low price, too. What a wonderful bargain. And, all the recipes have already been rigorously tested to perfection. I highly recommend this book!! 03-19-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by Like going to cooking school I purchased this cookbook for myself, as there is not a cook book I have been able to pass up, However, when I received this one, it was so in depth, describing each step and even gave pictures for many of those steps, I felt there was only one place for this book. I gifted it to my Grand Daughter, who just went out on her own, and who can't cook! No excuses now, this book is better than "Home Economics Class".....do they still have that in school? Ha! Ha! No matter...she has the only tool she will need! 03-16-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by Can't recommend enough Great balamce of explaining recipes and recipes and explaining different foods. This book is amazing. Can't recommend enought for the beginner to the advanced cook. 03-15-15
Rated 3 out of 5 by Too much book, not enough recipes This very heavy book has lots of good ideas, but I thought there was way too much text for the amount of recipes. i even found some typos. 03-13-15
