Scanner Guard 2 Sets of (2) Anti-Scanning Credit Card Protectors
Our PassPorts Protected
Bought 2 sets of these and now ordering another for gift. My initial thought? How would I know whether or not they worked? However, put a set in each of our P/Ps when travelling and forgot all about until Cruise security tried to scan, unsuccessfully. I totally forgot about until they slipped out of P/Ps - even security was in 'awe' and said that these 'scanner guards' were a very good idea and asked where we purchased.
.I haven't used this because I purchased it for my future son-in-law and daughter who won a trip to Mexico. I thought it would make a great gift for Christmas. My daughter just got her passport and I wanted to be sure they were both protected when they travel. You never know these days and with this in the purse/wallet, they can be assured no one can steal their ID. I hope QVC comes up with a wristlet that can accommodate not only credit cards, cell phone, camera, but perhaps your glasses too. I hate carrying prescription and sun glasses so maybe the makers will find a way to include that too. :>) at least for one.
Impressed by card protectors
but not by some of the reviews here. I am surprised at how uniformed some people are! I received these as a gift. I called 2 of the companies I have credit cards with and was told by both that these card guards do block electronic readers. Now regarding some of the other reviews here I have the following to say. First, I have watched presentations on these cards (different brands also) numerous times and I definitely heard it said again and again that not all cards have the chips. So, those reviewers stating that information was not provided are incorrect. Secondly, many types of cards other than credit cards do have these chips and more and more credit cards are being issued with these chips. The person who said they "tested" them at the store was confusing. They didn't explain how they "tested" them. My guess is they don't understand how the guards work so their "test" is unreliable. I would dismiss that review since details are not provided. After reading these reviews and reviews for many other products here I continue to be amazed that people give negative reviews because of their own neglect. That is they neglect to listen closely to the presentation and/or do not read all of the online info about a product before purchasing. Many of the questions people ask are stated right in the description. Reviews of that sort skew the product evaluation system making it less helpful than it can be.
I hope they are working
Weird review , I hope that they work..I placed them in my wallet near my credit cards. I guess for peace of mind..I have to give them a 5 star, but I really don't know ..In my mind I feel better .Something is better than nothing ..
These really work. Just recently ordered, rearranged by billfold, then went to the bank to make a deposit. They require a swipe of the debit card, but my card was acting crazy and could not be read by their scanner. I have had no problems with my card. That being said, I decided to move my purse further from the scanner and try again. Long story short, with these in the proximity of your card, nothing can be read. It was amazing. I went shopping that same day, and removed my card to use it, keeping my billfold in my purse to make sure it was far enough away from my card that it would not cause a problem. All worked well and I am very impressed. Bought for family as well.
Peace of Mind
I was given a set of these protectors and immediately placed them in my wallet. I have since traveled and have felt at ease knowing I have them. Of course, you won't know that they're not working till we get notice from our credit card company, so no news is good news. But I feel good that I am being proactive and have confidence in this product. Thanks Richard!
ODDEST REVIEW I EVER WROTE!
HOW CAN I TELL IF THEY ARE WORKING, OR IF I EVEN LIKE IT? STRANGE...... BUT WILL KEEP THEM.
No more ID/CC Theft
I recently had my credit card company call me about my card being used for unauthorized purchases and when asked if I had my card in my possession I said yes. I hadn't used my card in months so it couldn't have been swiped magnetically and I always have it on me wherever I go. So how did they steal my cc #? Well, it turns out my cc has an RFID (aka Paypass) and they could steal it wirelessly while in my purse. So, I was told about this anti-scanning credit card protectors and decided to give it a try.
So the next time I went to a convenient store that offers Paypass purchases, I decided to give it a try with my protector placed right behind my cc. My cc couldn't be read by the machine. So I've concluded that these cards are WELL-WORTH my money because I not only have the peace of mind that I know I won't have my cc stolen again AND not have to deal with calling my cc company 3 times to get my money refunded back to me after a WHOLE MONTH. What a pain, seriously.
But the best thing is that these cards are completely thin (approx. ~1 mm) and fit exactly right behind my credit card in my favorite Louis Vuitton wallet, which already has really tight slots, so both cards can fit perfectly into the slots. I was really worried that it wouldn't fit, but after seeing how thin they were, I was really glad I can still use my own wallet instead of having to switch to one with wider slots. I also really appreciate the mirror on the back of the cards, a MUST have for women.
All in all, a great product and completely affordable for the time and headaches you'll be saving yourself having to rectify any type of stolen activity on your RFID cards. Although I put this would be a perfect gift for families, I believe this is a perfect gift for everyone who has a credit card/ID/security pass with a RFID chip. I'm going to be recommending this to everyone I know because this is a well-worthy item to have in your wallet.
Going 2 UTAH 4 a wedding & wanted securty..& now we have it!!! Thank You!!!!
PROTECT YOUR ID FROM ELECTRONIC PICKPOCKETS
I rarely ever write a review about a product, whether I like it or not. In this case, a couple of comments I have seen here are simply not true or ill-advised because the technology of these SCANNER GUARD cards is not understood. I live in Michigan and have a driver's license with an RFID chip. I was provided a Radio Frequency ID protection "sleeve cover" by the DMV (actually the Secretary of State handles licenses in Michigan) that is supposed to protect my driver's license from portable scanner skimming. It is inconvenient to remove and paper-like and will eventually wear out. I also have credit cards, debit cards, gym access cards, work entry and passport cards with RFID chips. My regular passport is also embedded (as ALL of them are) with an RFID chip. We are more vulnerable now than ever before to the possibility of having our ID stolen, either with a portable scanner or with an APP in a cel phone that turns the phone into an electronic pickpocketing device. I feel confident that with these cards in my wallet I am protected. The SCANNER GUARD company contracted MET LABS, a leading RFID Test Lab to verify that they DO WORK. These cards are thinner by 1/2 than a regular credit card. I can't see where anyone would break them by putting them in a "too full" wallet (virtually impossible) as someone stated below. Nobody needs THAT many credit cards OR get a bigger wallet. In addition, how anyone can state that they don't work by taking them to the grocery store and testing them just DOES NOT understand the technology involved. There will be more and more cards using the RFID chips in the future and you should protect your information now rather than after it is too late. In addition, the little mirror on the back of the SCANNER GUARD card can be used as a magnifier if you bend it slightly...not a protective feature, but handy, nonetheless. To sum up...I am totally convinced these not only work but they are a very cost-effective and important item to have in your wallet. If your ID is stolen by an electronic pickpocket it may take years to rid yourself of the consequences, if at all...think about it. Better safe than sorry. I predict that in the next couple of years almost all credit and debit cards will have RFID chips in them. What a field day for the electronic pickpockets if the cards are not protected by SCANNER GUARD card technology.
I have the scanners in my credit card holder as I write this. However, I can't honestly say whether or not they will really work. I'm sure I'll never know, unless my cards do actually get hacked. But, they are a terrific idea if in fact they will work as claimed.
Great Protection (I think)
I am so confident that there's electronic gadgets out there scanning our wallets, etc. that I bought two packets and convinced my husband to put them in his wallet as well (and he's not an easy sell). I have no idea if they have worked or not, but I think it's an excellent idea and so I went for it. And the mirror side is very helpful as well.
