Rated 5 out of 5 by WINOWITCH DYSON FAN FOREVER!
I ordered this because my original Dyson (20 yrs. still going strong) was getting too heavy for me to use more often with my 2 pups. I did some research, read some good (and bad) reviews and decided to "GO FOR IT"! Boy, am I glad I did! I'm very happy with the weight, ease & power of this little Dyson. I was shocked at the first run of this machine and the dirt it picked up... even after I've been using a Dyson on my floors! The attachments are wonderful and you CAN'T BEAT the QVC price (plus easy pay). Save your time and look no further. This is it! ENJOY!!

Very disappointed with this Dyson. It would not swirl debris. Was defective. Had to return but wish it would have worked

So I was in the market to buy a new vacuum when my $3k Blue Max that was supposed to last a lifetime died after just under 5 years. I'm a little sour on a good vacuum sinice I have had nothing but "disposable" ones it seemed, in the past.
My Blue Max was very heavy and bulky but I loved the performance nontheless...
Anyway I decided to try Dyson since my sister had one and recommended it and I went with a compact one as a change from my other one.
I received it a day ago and it almost seems like a toy in size but after being without one for about 3 weeks, having 2 large dogs and 2 cats I gave it a whirl and really worked it. It grooms the carpets very nicely. It glides over multiple surfaces seemlessly as I have carpet, tile and wood floors. It picked up a ton of dirt, hair and dust. I was excited. I am emptying it constantly which is probably good and I don't mind as I can see what it is removing.
I am, however, NOT impressed with the hose. I read all the reviews on it and they are pretty much spot on. The hose does retract into itself but because this is a lighter model, when you pull the hose out, it almost lifts the vacuum up. I have to hold the main part down and try to use the hose at the same time which keeps retracting into itself and I have to keep pulling it out and stabalizing the vacuumn upright again..
Also when you put it in a position to roll (when not on) into another room, the bottom keeps dropping. There is no foot pedal to put it in place and keep it there. This is very annoying and I feel like I am breaking it. It almost feels like a toy somewhat. Maybe I am just used to my old power house vacuum.
It is a bulldog for suction, so for now I guess I could recommend it.
Hopefully for the price, it is not a "disposable" one like the rest.

Love, love this vacuum !! Read all reviews.
Was a little apprehensive on purchasing. Some said problems with handle. I have had no problems with handle. Also said cord wasn't long enough. The cord is plenty long enough. As long as my old vacuum.
Very lightweight. Easy to use attachments.
I am so very happy with this purchase. You will not be disappointed. First Dyson! Couldn't be more satisfied!!

The concept is great has great suction but I wouldn't recommend if you vacuum furniture or stairs the hose isn't long enough has bad flexibility .. I paid for fast shipping and QVC charged me 2xs for one vacuum. I wanted to love it as I did the canister. But this is going back asap.

I had a Dyson DC25 for about 7 years and was heartbroken when it wouldn't turn on one morning. I was excited to try this new vacuum. This gets one star simply for the color purple. It is bulky, heavy, hard to handle, extremely difficult to remove hose from the housing, the suction on the floor attachment is very poor, picks up lint and dust but wouldn't even touch a piece of dry cat food on my kitchen floor. I wish they still made the little orange DC25, I want it back!! :(((( If anyone has arthritis in their hands or elsewhere in their body, look away from this vacuum, it's not for you (or me!)
Rated 2 out of 5 by Jackhound Mom Dyson VS Shark
I have a 2 year old Shark from QVC that preforms very well except on a very thick 5x8 area rug in my living room. The video to this vacuum shows it working on just such a carpet. It does not work! Furthermore, it is not nearly as sturdy or easy to use as the Shark. It went together easy enough and was packed well but is very rickety. We just tried to pass it over the rug and decided to return it and get rid of the overly thick rug and buy a rug with a normal thickness. Even on the clearance price this vacuum is not worth the money.

This is a great vacuum as far as suction.. I was utterly disgusted after I started vacuuming my carpet to see all that it was pulling out of the carpet.
I have 2 large shepard mix dogs, and one short hair Bulldog, I have 3 long hair cats indoors and two boys running in and out of the house; this being said, I have put this vacuum to the test on the first day! I would love to see dyson do a commercial in my house after a day or two with my furry kids.
The positives, it works, it gets the dirt out of the carpet, it hardly gets the hair tangled around the brush and when I am done I can really see a difference on my carpets. I sucked up a toothpick and it got stuck on the roller, It was really easy to unclip the bottom and grab it and put it back together. Unlike my other vacuums where you have to get the tool kit to start cleaning things out. So if a clog does happen, its easy to unclog and goes right back to working. It is not super loud and my son who is super sound sensitive actually didn't freak out and was able to be in the same room while the dyson was on... that never happens, usually he runs around screaming and hides.
Down side, the attachment system, is not that easy to use. Their is not a whole lot of flexibility on the hose, and it bends when you use the attachments and the over all hose it self is not really long. It is light enough that you can pick it up to reach a bit higher so that is helpful.
but hooking and unhooking the attachments is rather odd. also when you stand it up, b/c of the attachment layout, it will suck your shirt sleeve into the handle when you are tryin to stand it up right before you turn it off. Now that may not bother you, just for me its weird.
There are no bags, which I love b/c of no purchases there. However just like any bag less, the dust still fluffs up in your face when you empty it out into the trash can. I love the fact that the filters are washable. That is a nice money saver.
