Burger Wellington

Burger Wellington

Mary DeAngelis

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 (1/3-lb) burger patty
  • 2 slices cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1/3 cup shredded cheddar
  • 6 oz bread dough
  • Salt and pepper, and garlic powder for seasoning
  • 1 egg scrambled for egg wash
  • 1-1/2 to 2 tsp sesame seeds

Preparation

Preheat air fryer to 390°F.

Season burger with salt, pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

You can either pan sear the burger for 2–3 minutes on each side, or pop it in the air fryer for 3 minutes on each side. Set aside.

Press bread dough out into an approximately 5–6" diameter circle. Place the shredded cheese in the center, then add the chopped bacon, and then the partially cooked burger. Take the extra dough around the edges, and pull up over the burger to the middle, and pinch together to seal it up well.

Flip it over and brush the top with egg wash, and sprinkle the sesame seeds on top.

Place in the preheated air fryer with the sesame seed side up. Cook for 12–13 minutes, then flip it and cook for another 12–13 minutes, for a total of 24–26 minutes. This will give you a medium burger. If you like it more well done, cook it just a little longer.

Remove it from the air fryer, and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before cutting into it.
