Ryka Avert Core-Lite Running Sneakers
Good Looks but................
I really like the style & the weight of this shoe however compared to my other running shoes, these just do not provide the support needed. I run between 10-12 miles within a 4 day period and these just do not feel good on my feet when running. I feel like I'm running on the ground on my bare feet. I was so excited to try a pair of running shoes designed by a woman and made for a woman, darn it these just didn't cut it. I'm very petite, 4'11", 110 lbs and wear a size 5 1/2 so ordering a running shoe is the only option as stores do not carry my size which just adds to my frustration.
Please make a running shoe that provides much more support/cushioning in the heel/sole area.
I run a lot and have purchased several Ryka walking shoes, so when this was on TV decided to follow the hostess recommendation of the BEST running shoes she ever own. Well....they rubbed a blister on both my heels and were not comfortable at all. Needless to say will not purchase running shoes again, like the walking shoes.
Great for me!
I wore these shoes yesterday at work. I stood on concrete for 7 1/2 hours in one spot. My feet did not hurt at the end of the day and neither did my back. They were true to size... also I have been blessed with bunions and these shoes accommodated my feet nicely.
I initially ordered these shoes because I thought they were cute; however, when they arrived today and I tried them on, I was immediately impressed with the fit. They feel as if they were custom molded to my foot. I also noticed that it says on the shoe that these are water resistant and also have been scotch guard protected, two more major bonuses. I wore them while doing my Leslie Sansone walk away the pounds DVD and found them to be very comfortable and stable. The bottoms also have very good traction and are quite "grippy." I am not a runner and don't intend to wear them for running but will wear them when I take my dog for walks. I didn't have issues with the shoe laces as other reviewers had mentioned, but my shoes already had the laces in them. I also order up 1/2 size when ordering Ryka athletic shoes since I find they generally run a little smaller than other shoe brands in their fitness shoe line.
Only wear Rykas but this pair just wasn't up to their benchmark. The inside of left shoe was so rough I could not wear. I did not order a replacement pair.
I'm surprised at the reviews before me... I find the sizing runs large. I own the A229852 Ryka Elate Fitness Sneakers, and that pair fits perfect. Both pair state "true-to-size" but this pair is at least 1/2 size bigger than the A229852 that I own and are $20 less expensive. I wish quality control would compare all their sneakers in the Ryka line when they are going to state that they are true-to-size. Both pair can't be true-to-size and yet one pair be much bigger than the other. I do agree with the review regarding the laces, they are tight fitting through the eyelets and the shoes are made wide. When I have to tighten the shoe strings, the sizing is off because i do not have a narrow foot at all.
4 star for color and looks
I wear a 71/2 wide so I took a chance and ordered an 8. I do not have a extremely wide foot but if the shoe is not wide it usually fits snug. So of course, these are snug and they run small. I just fit in them with little to spare. The tops around the foot opening is probably what bothers me enough to send them back( and yes I did loosen them). Its a pretty sneaker in the gray. I will not be able to throw in washer for shrinkage reasons. Do I think it's a good value, "no". I think material used could have been better quality for the price. I'm not wowed by the "lite"quality for that reason. The bottoms don't seem to be up holding quality for alot of running.
This shoe is sooo cute; however, either the eyelets or the laces are too small or too large. I could not get the laces through the eyelets without a struggle. I gave up fighting with them and had to change them out. The laces acted like they had glue on them and you have to struggle to get them through the eyelets.
As to the sizing....I have a different pair of Ryka sneakers and ordered my regular size 8 in them...they are fine without socks, but when I wore socks, they hurt my big toe on left
foot. I ordered this pair in half size larger and am very happy when I wear socks.
I am hoping I can find some lime green laces that may slide through eyelets a lot easier than the original ones.
