About Rachael Ray

It comes as no surprise that Rachael Ray is a household name in the kitchen. After all, her passion for the culinary craft surfaced at a very early age. “My first vivid memory is watching my mom in a restaurant kitchen. She was flipping something with a spatula. I tried to copy her and ended up grilling my right thumb! I was 3 or 4,” she says. Today, Rachael insists that cooking is a way of life she was simply born into.

Growing up in a family steeped in culinary tradition, Rachael was exposed to a wide range of cooking techniques. The Ray family owned several restaurants in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, before relocating to upstate New York, where her mother worked as the food supervisor for a restaurant chain. Rachael soon moved to New York City to work at Macy’s, first at the candy counter and then as a manager for the Fresh Foods Department, which she credits for her education in gourmet foods. After Macy’s, Rachael helped open Agata & Valentina, the prestigious New York gourmet marketplace where she was the store manager and buyer.

Despite the exciting lifestyle in the foodie circles of New York City, Rachael decided to move back to upstate New York and start managing pubs and restaurants at the famed Sagamore Resort on Lake George. From there, she was recruited by Cowan & Lobel, a large gourmet market in Albany, as their food buyer and, eventually, their “chef.”
As a way to increase grocery sales during the holidays, Rachael created a series of cooking classes, which exploded in popularity. The CBS station in Albany-Schenectady, WRGB-TV, discovered Rachael and signed her on to do a weekly “30-Minute Meals” segment for the evening news. The segment was a major success, with a companion cookbook selling 10,000 copies locally during the holidays. With that, a franchise was born!

Now Rachael enjoys her status as an iconic Food Network television personality, best-selling cookbook author, and editor-in-chief of her own lifestyle magazine. In the fall of 2007, she launched Rachael Ray, her hugely successful syndicated daytime talk show.

Showcasing Rachael’s warmth, energy, and boundless curiosity, the show — produced by CBS Television Distribution and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions — invites viewers to experience life the Rachael Ray way. Credited with getting America back in the kitchen with her easy approach to cooking, Rachael takes the same philosophy with her show — finding simple solutions to everyday problems, both in the kitchen and beyond.

“My life has been a total accident — a very happy, wonderful accident that I didn’t and couldn’t have planned,” says Rachael. Despite her growing celebrity she’s determined to stay grounded and hold on to her down-to-earth values. Rachael still spends as much time as she can at her cabin in the Adirondacks with her husband, John, her family — the “research team” — and her beloved pit bull, Isaboo.

Love This Product ! Absolutely love this product......Very elegant and a very good price....I would buy any of Rachael Ray products. 06-19-13
Thrilled I was so lucky to find this at such a great price. The set is adorable! And it's so great that I can add to it either with other RR products or my own because of the colors. Yesterday I went out to get glassware to match and the fun was mixing and matching. I got glasses that were different in colors, like green, orange, brown, amber...2 of each to pickup on the colors in the dishes . No more is the day of everything matching perfectly, you know , like the butter dish, creamer, sugar bowl, salt and pepper..all the same as the dishes like I have had for 20 some years with my other dishes. I've packed them away and am stepping in the modern world, lol. You will love these! Not to mention the cute little hoot! 06-16-13
Brighten Your Day The Little Hoot dishes bring a smile every time I use one. As an owl collector, they are one of the most useful owl pieces I have--and what a bargain at this price. 06-15-13

Cutest Owls! Miss Rachael, thank you so much for this beautiful set! I have always loved Owls. Can you make canister sets, little salt and pepper shakers to match this set? I purchased two sets of the dishes and thinking of buying two more for my daughter. Thanks for the great products! 06-13-13

They make me feel so happy & brings a giggle of delight!!! Thank you, thank you!!! Also, the dishes are excellent quality! The bowls & salad plates are just the perfect size! I will definitely purchase more Rachel Ray products!!! 06-06-13
Love it!!!!!!!!! I had the temp-tation dinnerware set. I had it for two years and from the start they were chipping and the plates were breaking. And no one wanted help. So I saw these and they looked very cute so I took the risk and bought 3 sets and I'm very happy with them. The pattern is perfect, the owl is so cute and they clean very well. And nothing was wrong with the pattern or colors like the temp-tations dinnerware was. Love, Love my little hoot. 06-06-13
Love Rachael Ray For the past year, I have collected everything RR. I recently bought two sets of the Little Hoot 16-piece Service for 4 Dinnerware. I love them. It is only my husband and I in the house and we really don't use the mugs, they will be stored in the cupboard and might be given away eventually. I wish instead of mugs, the set came with the bigger bowls. I cant really even think of anything I would drink with the mugs? Coffee?Tea? If I drank coffee and tea. They are too small for a dinner drink, i think. The price for the set was so much better than buying everything separate, it was worth getting 8 mugs we won't use. Maybe I can plant herbs in them?! I think these are made well, they aren't too light or too heavy. They clean up easy like all of RR's products. If you like RR and the color pattern, GO FOR IT! 06-04-13
Nice Pattern, poor quality Really loved the pattern, but so disspointed, 2 pieces have already chipped and I have not been rough with them. Sadly this set won't last long. Very disspointing! 05-30-13
NO I don't like them, I LOVE THEM!!! First let me say I had new dishes and I paid more than I did for these. They were awful so I bought these never knowing anythingabout them, Was thinking ok Rachel Ray love her show and thought I'll try. So glad I did! The color is bright and cheery with just enough splash here and there. The sily owl makes me smile daily. That surpised me. They are true to what is seen. I was thinking the boyfriend was not gonna like them and he loves them too! They don't get hot when I microwave, there not chipping, They feel great to handle and use. Not to heavy and yet sturdy enough for everyday ware. The quality just blew me away.... so I ran to and I mean RAN to the computer to buy a second set before they are gone.... I might even buy a 3rd set for back up. Everywhere else these sold for much higher than QVC charges. THANK YOU QVC! For giving a girl a chance to get nice dinnerware that makes the whole house happy boys and girls! Thank you Rachel for making them! 2 Hoots up! 05-23-13
What a Hoot I've been wanting these dishes for so all and when I saw them on clearance I just had to order four sets. I love the owl, since I'm obsessed with them. The colors match great with the rest of her collection. The only problem I have is that some of the dinner plates are wobbly. I have to use place mats because I have a glass dinning room table. So that was disappointing. 05-23-13
