For the simple syrup, rinse the strawberries, cut the stems off, and mash with a fork. Place them into a medium saucepot. Add water and sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from stove and let sit for one hour.
Place water and tea bags in a large container/pitcher and allow tea to steep for 5 minutes.
Then, add the mashed strawberries (reserve the liquid) and the basil. Allow to steep for at least one hour. Strain.
Taste and add as much of the strawberry simple syrup you wish to in order to reach the level of sweetness you’d like.
Fill a pitcher and glasses with ice.
Garnish the glasses with a fresh strawberry and basil sprigs if you wish.
Pour your Strawberry Passion Basil Tea over the ice and enjoy!
Since your strawberry simple syrup and tea mixture are made separately, you may use as little or as much of this mixture as you’d like, depending on your desired sweetness.
