Types of Serta Mattresses

Q: What is the difference between Serta innerspring mattresses and Serta foam mattresses?
A:
Innerspring mattresses feature tempered steel coils in a variety of configurations. Layers of upholstery provide insulation and cushioning between your body and the support unit. Serta foam-core mattresses use gel memory foam as the support system, instead of coils.

Q: Is there an advantage to purchasing a Pillowtop model versus a Plush or Firm model?
A:
No. Selecting the comfort of the mattress depends solely on your personal preferences and needs. Pillowtop models are the "plushest" of our models and have the most comfort layers at the sleep surface. Our Euro Top model also has additional comfort layers at the sleep surface, but its cushioning is designed to have just a slightly firmer feel. Our Plush model has fewer comfort layers at the sleep surface. All of our Perfect Sleeper mattresses have the same innerspring unit that helps to provide support along the entire length of the body. Therefore, the support is the same in both models and your choice simply depends on your preference.

Q: Does Serta offer adjustable mattresses and/or bases?
A:
The Serta Pivot™ adjustable foundation allows you to adjust the head of the mattress to find the perfect level of comfort whether you are reading, watching television, or just lounging in bed. The Pivot comes with a convenient wired remote and is finished with stylish fabric that beautifully complements your Perfect Sleeper Plush mattress.

Mattress Sizes

Q: What are the dimensions of each mattress size?
A:
The mattress sizes below may vary by half an inch. Measure your hallways and entryways before placing an order:

  • Twin: 38" x 74-1/2" — ideal for children or single sleepers; arrives as a two-piece set including a mattress and box spring (if ordered as a set).
  • Full: 53" x 74-1/2" — comfortably accommodates a single sleeper; great for teens; arrives as a two-piece set including a mattress and box spring (if ordered as a set).
  • Queen: 60" x 79-1/2" — Serta's most popular mattress size; perfect for guest rooms, smaller master box spring (if ordered as a set). Split Queen arrives as a three-piece set including one mattress and two split box springs (if ordered as a set).
  • King: 76" x 79-1/2" — great choice for couples who want maximum personal sleeping space. It can also accommodate children or pets that may pop into bed. Arrives as a three-piece set including one mattress and two split box springs (if ordered as a set).
  • California King: 72" x 83-1/2" — variation of the King; arrives as a three-piece set including one mattress and two split box springs (if ordered as a set); California King mattress cannot be used with standard king bed frame; California King headboard and footboard are required for this mattress size.

Q: What's a split box spring, and how do I know if I'll need one?
A:
Split box springs are made up of two separate foundations placed side-by-side, and are designed for delivery to places where a normal whole box spring won't fit, such as through tight doorways, staircases, or narrow corners. All king mattresses use split box springs. Queen-size box springs are available in two types: whole and split box springs. Split queen box springs are two 30" x 79.5" box springs that equal the size of one whole queen. If you think you'll need a split box spring, you should order the split queen set.

Q: What is the difference between a King and California King Size Mattresses?
A:
While a California King-sized mattress is approximately four inches longer, it is also about four inches narrower than a standard King-sized bed. California King-sized mattresses cannot be used with standard King-sized bed frames; only California King-sized headboards and footboards can be used with this mattress size.

Q: Do I need to buy new sheets?
A:
You may need deep-pocket sheets that are designed for pillowtop and extra-thick beds. Most major linen retailers offer deep-pocketed sheets that fit today's thicker mattresses.

Q: Will the mattress and box spring fit my headboard and through my hallways and stairways?
A:
The mattress and box spring heights are:

  • Luxury Suites Super Pillowtop: 14" (mattress), 9" (box spring)
  • Deluxe Retreat Super Pillowtop: 14" (mattress), 9" (box spring)
  • Deluxe Retreat Plush: 13" (mattress), 9" (box spring)

Mattress Care

Q: Will I have to turn, flip, and rotate this mattress?
A:
Serta mattresses are specifically designed so that they don't need to be flipped. For optimal performance, the mattress should be rotated regularly to even out normal wear. Simply rotate the top (head portion) to the bottom position once every two weeks for the first three months of use, and once every eight weeks thereafter.

Q: What if I notice an odor from my mattress after it's delivered?
A:
Like a new car, your new mattress may have a slight odor when it's first delivered and unwrapped. After allowing the mattress to breathe for a short period of time without sheets, you shouldn't notice any odor.

Q: Will my body leave impressions in my mattress?
A:
Many of Serta's mattresses use foams and fibers that are designed to be softer and more comfortable while providing your body with optimal support. By cradling your body, these materials help provide pressure-relieving comfort near the sleep surface. For that reason, during the first few weeks you sleep on your new mattress, you may notice some body impressions on the mattress surface.

These impressions are normal and shouldn't be considered a sign that something is wrong with your new mattress. You may want to rotate your mattress from end-to-end and from top-to-bottom. After a few weeks, the impressions will begin to smooth out and, over time, disappear.

Q: Is a new mattress that has one sleeping surface better than one mattress with two sleeping surfaces?
A:
No. Serta mattresses have a single-sided design to eliminate the tedious need to flip them. Single-sided construction doesn't alter the feel or performance of a mattress.

Q: Why should I purchase a mattress pad/protector for my new mattress?
A:
You should purchase a mattress pad/protector for your new mattress to help keep your mattress free from stains. Remember, stains and/or soiling can void your warranty. Investing in a mattress protector or pad is a simple way to make sure you get the most out of your mattress and its warranty.

Q: Where can I get my mattress cleaned or how can I remove stains?
A:
We suggest that you contact a local professional upholstery-cleaning business to ensure that the mattress is cleaned properly without damaging the fibers.

Q: Why should I purchase a complete set when my current box spring looks fine?
A:
Serta mattresses are designed to be used with a coordinating box spring that is built to provide proper support and durability. Putting a new mattress on an old box spring may cause your mattress to sag or wear sooner. Therefore, your bed may not perform as well and your warranty may be void.

Q: Why do I need a frame?
A:
Serta Queen and King-sized beds require a metal bed frame (or bed base) with a rigid-center support. Preferably, the center support for a Queen should have one leg, while the center support for a King should have two legs. Using the proper frame helps keep your warranty valid and helps your mattress last.

Returns

Q: How does the 30-day Comfort Guarantee work?
A:
You should expect some level of adjustment when sleeping on a new mattress. After all those years on your old bed, you may need some time to get used to the "feel" of the new set. If you're not satisfied with your purchase within 30 days, you may return your order for a refund. All product returns or replacement requests after the 30-day guarantee will be treated as a warranty claim.

Q: If I am not satisfied with my Serta mattress purchase, can I replace it within 30 days with a different Serta mattress from QVC?
A:
Yes. Serta permits one replacement mattress order per customer with the 30-day guarantee. If you have a very specific comfort need it may be beneficial to you (and your partner) to test out mattresses in a store prior to placing your order to determine which mattress comfort and construction is best suited to fit your needs.

Q: Can I return my mattress set?
A:
If you're not satisfied with your purchase within 30 days, you may return your order for a refund. All product returns or replacement requests after the 30-day guarantee will be treated as a warranty claim and handled by Serta's Customer Service team. Please contact Serta's Customer Service team for warranty service at 888-55-SERTA Monday thru Friday between the hours of 9am-5pm ET.

Q: Should I return my mattress if it is not comfortable right away?
A:
You may feel a slight discomfort with your new mattress for the first week or so. This is normal and to be expected, as your body is used to the old mattress and your new one is now supporting your body. It may take some time for your body to adjust to your new mattress. After all those years on your old bed, you may need some time to get used to the "feel" of the new set. The mattress should conform to you, not the other way around.

Q: How does the return process work?
A:
Within 30 days from date of delivery: Please contact QVC Customer Care to initiate a return of your Serta mattress set. Requests made within 30 days from the date of delivery are eligible for a refund. Serta's authorized delivery agent will contact customer within one week of return request to schedule pick-up of the sleep set. If a replacement order is entered, then the pick-up will take place at the same time of the replacement delivery. Customer must schedule a pick-up date with delivery agent within two weeks from the date of cancellation.

Warranty

Q: What's the Limited Manufacturers' Warranty?
A:
Serta's goal is to provide you with the highest product quality and durability so you can enjoy your Serta mattress for years to come. This promise is backed by our Serta Quality Assurance Program. Because we strongly believe in the quality, design and craftsmanship of our products, Serta products are warranted against the manufacturing defects in workmanship and material as outlined in the warranty brochure that came with your mattress or mattress set. See our Warranty FAQs below for more details.

The warranty card is included with every bed sold. The Limited Manufacturer's Warranty is a product warranty, not a "comfort" warranty. It warrants against manufacturing defects in workmanship and material ONLY (excluding the cover), and can become void if the unit is soiled or not cared for properly. Be sure to keep the law tag on at the end of the mattress. The tag has important manufacturing information about your mattress that you'll need in the event of a warranty claim.

Please contact Serta's Customer Service team for warranty service at 888-55-SERTA Monday thru Friday between the hours of 9am-5pm ET.

Q: What happens to my warranty if I move out of state?
A:
Serta's Limited Manufacturer's Warranty applies throughout the country. Be sure to keep the law tag on at the end of the mattress. The tag has important manufacturing information about your mattress that you'll need in the event of a warranty claim.

Q: If I receive a new mattress under warranty adjustment, does my warranty start over?
A:
No. The length of the warranty is determined by the date of the original purchase. If your mattress was deemed defective after five years of use, the new mattress (even if you pay more and trade up to a better model) will only have five years remaining out of the original 10-year warranty.

Q: Why is my whole set not replaced if I have a problem?
A:
In cases where only the mattress or box spring has been identified with a manufacturer's defect, only the defective piece will be repaired or replaced. Unfortunately, the original covers are often discontinued and may not be available for the replacement piece. We will, however, replace the piece with a cover of equal or greater value. This action will not impact serviceability of the product or future warranty claims.
