Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Definite Learning Curve To be honest I only attempted one recipe. I had plenty of liquid as per the recipe and after I closed it up and started it I got the 3 or so beeps and the display said “burn”. And talk about burnt, I had to dump everything into a pot and finish on the stove because it took my husband scraping the bottom of the pot a couple times plus soaking in soapy water to get it clean. I then looked for another recipe to try but gave up and back it went. I also didn’t understand because you’re supposed to use a lot of liquid but in some of the recipes I looked at they didn’t seem to be using much at all. If I have to look that hard for specific recipes to use in the pot..well, it’s too much work for me. I’ll stick with my crock pot. They make it look easy in the demos but it’s not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It Have an electric pressure cooker that I use to can with but had never cooked in it. And actually it is simply to big to cook in for a family of 3. This however is the perfect size and certainly can feed more than 3. The only difficulty I’ve had is with rice, but I’ll figure that out at some point. What I have been recently excited about is using it for a bread proofer. That’s right I use it on the yogurt setting to proof bread. They need to show that as an option in the demo. Does it cook as quick as they say, well no you have to account for the time to pressurize and depressurization which I’ve found is and average 10 minutes to pressurize and 35-40 minutes to “naturally” depressurize.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love it but.... I have cooked more in the past month than I have in years! The pot is amazing! They being said, the fact that you have to adjust the settings on pre-set cooking times has been a problem since the beginning. Since it doesn’t have a timer you have to select a preset cooking time and adjust according to your recipe. The timing on my Pot doesn’t work. I thought it was user error by I read and reread the directions and it’s not me. I would like to exchange it but I don’t have the box!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it Was scared to use a pressure cooker, now I wonder I cooked without it. This 6 qt is the perfect size for us. Haven't used all the functions yet. I will purchase another inner pot to use this to its full potential.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Maybe things will get better First, I am well versed in using pressure cookers. I was excited to have an electric one, because my glass cooktop makes a regular pressure cooker difficult to use. I have used this Instant Pot twice before tonight. One time as a slow cooker (it needed to be a little hotter, so I'll let that one go, since there is a learning curve), and one time as a pressure cooker. It was awesome as the pressure cooker. Enter tonight. Followed a recipe from the Instant Pot app. Followed it to the letter. It will not cook under pressure, as the rice continues to burn to the bottom. I took the food out and deglazed per the instructions, but it did the same thing again. Now I'm going to try to cook it under the slow cooker setting. I don't mind a learning curve, but following instructions to the letter and getting these results is a no-go for me. May send it back. I'll make the decision later when I'm not angry.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Really? I bought this because they made it look so easy on tv. I’ve never used a pressure cooker so this is a first for me. I’m not afraid of it, I’m just so frustrated I could scream. The recipes I’ve tried have sounded easy enough but then I discover that my pot either doesn’t have the buttons specified or the screen doesn’t do what the recipe indicates it’s supposed to. I made pulled pork that really needed some more cooking time, so then what do I do? Start over? The split pea soup recipe I’m making now said 30 minutes cooking! But then I discovered there’s heating up time (as much as 40 minutes) and cool down time. That, to me, isn’t soup in 30 minutes. I’m not sure the learning curve involved with this is worth it. Nothing should be this hard. So annoyed, and I may have gotten rid of my box. I may just dump it in a different box and send it back. I’m glad I didn’t get rid of my slow cooker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game Changer I ordered in September, so before reviewing I wanted to try a few items. I must say, "where have you been all my life". I love to cook but I find myself cooking more often and meal prepping because it is so quick and makes things so tender. I would advise you to find quality recipes and experiment with them. It is scary at first, but my oh my when you realize how easy it is, you will be hooked!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from crazy over this cooker! I am so in love with this cooker! I will be honest it is overwhelming at first reading how to operate it! But once you read it all and get used to how it works it becomes super easy and the results are fab! A 3lb roast in under 1hr, dry beans in 45 min, carrots and veggies in 15! And tender tender ribs! One of the best purchases I have made at the Q. Thank you QVC. My only suggestion would be it needs a better cookbook/cooking guide. It doesn't have a guideline for cooking beans, and some other foods so that is kind of trial and error but still turns out great.
