Rated 2 out of 5 by from Customer Service Unfortunately Bad I really wanted to like this product, but its operation was erratic. It wouldn't map my 2800 ft home. It would go out to clean and run out of battery without returning to base. I spent hours with customer support and got widely conflicting advice on how to remedy the problems. Finally I had to return it so I was within the 30 day return period. Too bad because I really need this product and wanted to like it!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the smartest Roomba I tried to like this model but I just can't! It constantly gets stuck, bumps into furniture way too hard, skips scheduled rooms, does rooms that aren't scheduled, misses spots, gets caught under end tables and can't figure out how to get out, etc. I have previously used the 985 and the i7 and am returning the s9 to go back to using the i7. It was superior in almost every way! The s9 needs a constant babysitter which defeats the purpose of using it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sorry guys I do not often write reviews, I am an avid roomba fan and have been since the discovery up to the i7 plus. I7 is a wonderful machine, we decided to give the i9 a shot to upgrade our i7. The suction power is greatly increased, wonderful job there, fit and finish is really pretty, again nice job. That said, this is the most under developed roomba I've ever seen come to market. The side brush will not function on anything other than hard floors. It has issues with knowing where it's new D shaped head is located and smashes hard into the walls with a fit of rage on inside corners when it can't figure how to get out of the corner. The i7 in the same home functions flawlessly. Poor software coding guys, very rushed and not ready for market, strongly considering passing on this flagship and sending it back. Beautiful design and idea, terribly rushed horrible execution. Sorry for the honest review guys, was hard to write so much negative about a company I openly endorse to friends and family.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome suction and great mapping!!! The setup was very easy from the initial unboxing, there was a software update and then just download the app and charge the iRobot. The sensors did their job, I have a stairwell and the iRobot new when to stop to avoid falling. The obstacle avoidance improved as the iRobot was run thru it's training programs and mapped the environment. The suction was very powerful and almost left my hardwood floors looking like they were buffed. The best part of the setup is the software! with this software invisible wall barriers are not needed so you avoid an expense. The software does 2 great things worth mentioning in my opinion, the scheduling and the mapping. I am able to schedule the cleaning during times when I am away from home in order to avoid the noisy cleaning. I also don't worry about it getting stuck as the mapping feature has already plotted the environment and the areas it can't clean. The mapping feature is so accurate that it pretty much looks like a legit floorplan. This allows you to clean specific rooms that need it instead of letting the Roomba run free and hope it gets to the area that needs cleaning. I definitely love this Roomba and it is a vast upgrade from the last one I owned which was a 6 series. The google option is pretty cool although not really necessary. There are only a few cons: the noise, its pretty loud but I understand the loudness is a by product of the suction power. in the dark the Roomba tends to loose sight of the floorplan but thats because the mounted cameras/scanners need light. Overall I Love it and definitely recommend for regular cleaning of hardwood floors...GREAT FOR DUST ALLERGENS!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A ton of bugs I tried 960 and was thoroughly impressed by it, and a day later, I exchanged to S9; for it is far advanced with smart maps and powerful. However, I have run S9 several times now, and it is failing to recognize a couple of​ rooms and the finishes cleaning job without registering rooms. And S9 seems to have issues getting on top of my bathroom rug, while 960 worked just fine. And S9 has a tendency to climb on top flat wooden bases (roughly a centimeter in height) and get stuck. And 960 was far superior in its navigation and covering the whole house. I am returning S9 for 960. Images: the map in green is 960, and the other is S9; you can see 960 had a better sense of my floor plan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fairly impressed with cleaning, *not* with intelligence Herbert has a hard timd with carpeted floors (our bedrooms). We set his Home Base in the Guest Bedroom and got to believe there was an obstacle getting his duff off the pad. A little two-inch shove corrected the error. Nonetheless, we moved Home Base to another wall, on the other side of which was another bedroom. The "obstacle detected" error persisted. Reboot and a training run. Then we told Herbert to Return Home. He went to theother bedroom and banged his head silly against the wall on the other side of which the Home Base was plugged in. This,mind you, after the "smart" map is 90% complete. Smart? Bwahahaha. Not quite as smart as the i7 we traded in for the s9. Use due diligence in buying.
