Q: Are FoodSaver Lunch & Leftover Containers microwave-safe?
A: The base of the FoodSaver Snack and Sandwich containers (not the lids) are microwave-safe, but it should only be used to reheat foods, not to cook them in the microwave.

Q: Can FoodSaver bags be put into the microwave?
A: Yes. You can heat cooked foods, such as leftovers, in a FoodSaver bag. The bags should never be used to cook raw foods. When microwaving, cut open a corner of the bag before putting it into the microwave so steam can escape.

Q: Can FoodSaver bags be resealed?
A: Yes. Just cut off the existing seal, remove as much food as you need, then re-vacuum package. Be sure to wipe off any food or grease residue inside the bag near the seal area. You can also reseal FoodSaver bags after you have washed them.

Q: What are FoodSaver bags made of?
A: They are made of polyethylene (a type of plastic) with an outer layer of nylon for added strength and rigidity.

Q: Air was removed from the bag, but now air has re-entered.
A: Examine seal of bag. A wrinkle along the seal may cause leakage and allow air to enter. Simply cut bag and reseal. Sometimes moisture or food material (such as juices, grease, crumbs, powders, etc.) along the seal prevents the bag from sealing properly. Cut bag open, wipe top inside of bag, and re-seal. If you are vacuum-packaging sharp food items, the bag may have been punctured. Use a new bag if there is a hole. Cover sharp food items with a soft cushioning material and reseal. If you are still experiencing difficulty with air in your bag, fermentation, or the release of natural gases from inside the foods may have occurred. When this happens, food may have begun to spoil and should be discarded.

Q: I am having problems making the first seal on a bag I cut from a roll.
A: Ensure bag is flat and smooth and you have allowed three inches of space between the open end of the bag and the contents inside the bag. Hold the bag with two hands so the end curls downward, and gently stretch the bag flat while inserting.

Q: Which side of the bag should be placed on the seal bar?
A: Place the embossed (rough) side down. If the bag is curling (the end of the roll may do this), place the curled side down over the seal bar.

Q: How do I make a bag from a roll?
1. Cut the desired amount of roll material.
2. Press Seal button. The red Seal light will illuminate.
3. Insert open end of bag into Vacuum Channel until clamp motor starts. The roll material must be centered between arrows. Continue to hold until clamp motor stops.
4. When red seal light turns off, sealing is complete.

Q: How do I clean the gaskets, and how often should I clean them?
A: To keep the gaskets free of debris, we recommend cleaning them every three to six months. To clean the gaskets, use with hot, soapy water, rinse well, and let them air dry overnight.

Q: My FoodSaver appliance will not seal. What's wrong?
A: Press the Seal button before inserting your bag. Make sure the latch lever is fully pushed down to the operate position. This will lock the lid in place to secure the proper seal.

Q: Why is the Seal indicator flashing?
A: The Seal indicator flashes to signal an error. This may be caused by an improperly inserted bag. Make sure bag is placed correctly inside Vacuum Channel. (See How to Insert a Vacuum Bag.) Also review the following:
a. Check power cord to see if it is firmly plugged into an electrical outlet.
b. Examine power cord for any damages.
c. See if electrical outlet is working by plugging in another appliance.
d. Check to be certain the Upper Bag Detection Tray is properly inserted.
e. Check to ensure Release buttons are properly latched.
f. Check to ensure Foam Gasket is properly inserted into gasket channel.
g. Check around gaskets to make sure they are free from food material.
h. Lower Drip Tray must be firmly snapped into place.
i. If overheated, allow appliance to cool for 20 minutes.

Q: Why is the Moist Food indicator flashing?
A: The food sensors in the Drip Tray will not function if liquid is allowed to remain in the Drip Tray. Remove the Drip Tray, empty liquid, clean Drip Tray, and replace it in housing.

120v appliances only: The FoodSaver appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify plug in any way. Caution: A short power cord is provided to reduce risks from entanglement or tripping over a longer cord. An extension cord may be used when marked electrical rating is no less than electrical rating of this appliance. The extension cord should not drape over counter or tabletop where it can be tripped over or pulled on unintentionally, especially by children.
