QVC Germany’s employee discover magazine asked line producers (the people who manage and monitor our shows) from the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Italy, and Germany about their lively jobs. Five different countries and five different line producers, but similar stories! Thanks, friends, for the inside story and the laughs!

discover: What is your favorite part about the job?
Gina: My favorite part of the job has to be the people. There is such a strong sense of family here that every day I cry with laughter about something. We also meet amazing guests from across the world and I do feel so lucky to be able to work with these great personalities on a daily basis.

discover: What is the craziest thing that has happened during a live show?
Gina: We had to get Mally from Mally Beauty off the Nail Bar she decided to sit on, for health and safety reasons, but she ended up tap dancing with QVC presenter Jill Franks in 6"-heels instead! There have been hours where the backstage crew have been building bikes five minutes before we were due to sell them live. Crazy happens every day here!

discover: What is your favorite part about the job?
Sean: The pace, the energy level, the non-stop nature of the role. No pause, no rewind, no do-overs—you just keep going. You manage one of QVC’s most valuable assets—time. After 17 years as line producer, it’s still fun. I still enjoy coming here every day.

discover: What is the main characteristic that makes a good producer?
Sean: Multi-tasking and patience. There are so many balls in the air—keeping the host informed, the show moving, listening to the control room. There are six voices in your head all at once and you have to prioritize what’s most important.

discover: What is the craziest thing that has happened during a live show?
Sean: One of the craziest was when we did a red carpet show and we had a signal interruption. While trying to fix it, we had to go back to Studio Park live. And there was nothing we could do but wait. And we had some heavy hitters like Cindy Crawford standing by. But the whole team helped get through it.

discover: What is the main characteristic that makes a good producer?
Kamila: Calm and alertness. Or alertness and calm.

discover: What is the craziest thing that has happened during a live show?
Kamila: A big, big, big presenter’s “mad laugh” on air. Can’t stop laughing and for the sell side: when the sales are crazy and we have two or three testimonial calls at the same time. Crazy time!

discover: What is your favorite part about the job?
Sonia: The interesting part of my job is the chance I have to connect with different colleagues of all the teams involved in the preparation of the show. We need to work in close partnership with the host for a shared strategy.

discover: What do you think is unique about the shows in your country compared to other QVC markets around the world?
Sonia: One of QVC Italy’s peculiarities is the amount of products "made in Italy" as well as the QVC Next project that allows Italian small businesses and startups to have visibility on our QVC channels.

discover: What is your favorite part about the job?
Alexander: We can’t just call “Cut!” as we did with recordings and correct a slip of the tongue or an accidental image. This is exciting in the most positive sense and ensures maximum concentration throughout the entire team.

discover: What is the craziest thing that has happened during a live show?
Alexander: One day our Lock & Lock and EasiYo expert thought it would be a good idea to drop his chopping boards over the edge of the kitchen counter at the end of his presentation and then leap after them. This is, of course, nice for a blooper compilation, but at the moment of the live broadcast I found this only partially funny. In times such as these you have to support the host. I said exactly four words: “Ignore and keep going!”
