bareMinerals True Romantic Marvelous Moxie Lip Duo
Color not even close
This looked like such a gorgeous raspberry color online, I was so looking forward to it. Unfortunately, it's a neutral tan.
There are some pluses: The case is really nice, w/ a slide open button;
the gloss is a pink shade; the lipstick is creamy and feels great.
I'll be keeping it, mainly because I hate paying shipping back.
I like it
I ordered this when I first saw it on a show I DVR'd. I took a risk. I have darker skin (I wear Warm Dark in the READY Foundation, Golden Dark in Original and Matte Foundation). It's always a risk purchasing something and then it's not what you expect when you get it. I had to go to my beauty retailer store that carries Bare Minerals products and they had both of these products to test out and also other True Romantic pieces/sets on display. So I tested out the lipstick of course just to see the kind of pink I would get. Depending on your skin tone and/or what preference you're looking for when it comes to a lipstick, this may or may not work for you. Some may feel it's not the kind of pink they wanted. Others state it doesn't last long. What's funny is that I'm okay with the lipstick not lasting long because I work at a daycare. I don't have to glam it up. The lipstick, on me, looks like the perfect pink. Because of my ethnic background, both my top and bottom lip are pigmented differently from each other. So to keep my top lip from looking odd and heavily coated in color, I apply two light swipes of lipstick on the left and right side of my bottom lip and press my lips together. This keeps my top lip from being too overly pigmented in the lipstick color. The gloss, I use the very tip of the gloss to dap just a little in the middle of my bottom lip and then I do what I call a "typewriter motion" where I use that dab of gloss and press my lips together repeatedly from left to right until both of my top and bottom lips are evenly coated in lipstick and gloss. If it's too much, I can always blot it. Depending on your activity, lipstick may not last long. At my job, we're constantly talking, washing our hands and up and down with the babies. Sometimes, we're always on our feet and it can be stressful when we're fully staffed with babies (4 babies per Teacher/Teacher Assistant). So if there's 12 babies in the room, or multiple babies to feed at one time or babies going to other rooms to visit before graduating to that room permanently, it can be very busy. The last thing I'm thinking about is how my makeup looks or if my lipstick lasted. If you're having issues with lipstick not lasting, try Bare Minerals Moxie Lip Liners. For me, they go on like butter and assist in making your lipstick last longer and not bleed outside of the lines of your lips. You can go for a neutral color that works with everything. Not sure which shade to get? You can contact a representative via email from the Bare Minerals website and ask for advice. They have been wonderful with helping me choose my perfect shade and how to do certain makeup applications in the last years. Also, if you have a beauty retailer in your area that's local and not so far away, call and see if they have Bare Minerals products that you can try out for yourself and see what works. That's the best thing about beauty retailers. They usually have items you can test before you buy it which you can't do with drug store makeup. It's like a free try before you buy without having to sign the dotted line unless you want to! What sold me on this product is that they mentioned in their show that this wasn't a "bubblegum pink". I hate getting a pink shade that's a bubblegum pink and make my lips look even more ridiculous and bigger than what they are. I have big full lips already so I don't want to accentuate that. Less is more for these big lips of mine lol. I barely use my lipliner, but I like having it just in case I need it. You never know. The lip liner I consider my nude liner is the Moxie lip liner in Thrilled. I used to own Pumped and Revved. I believe I owned Revved for the Live Large Moxie Lipstick and Pumped for Rise Up Moxie Lipstick. Now I just have Rise Up, Feel the Love from this set and also the Thrilled lip liner which I purchased at my local beauty retailer. I have a six year anniversary coming in March (engaged for nearly four of those years and still engaged right now and we have a 4 year old daughter). So I wanted a subtle look without overdoing it. I'm 28, not 15 lol. I really was relieved trying this at the store even though I ordered it prior to making the visit to the store. Thank you Bare Minerals for making a lipstick that didn't make me look like a wild cartoon lol.
love this problem
I just got this product.Beautiful pink.the picture does not do justice.Hope they do more color duos.The reason I gave it a four stars is because the lip gloss is not as long lasting as the regular Moxie Lip Plumper. Nice light summer shade, so its a keeper.
I really love this duo. It's probably the best lipstick and gloss duo that I've tried yet from QVC. It isn't as pink as it is in the picture, but that's good for me as it goes well with my skin tone. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the lip gloss wand. It doesn't come out with enough product for my liking. Instead I have to keep applying to get enough. But I can live with that. They are gorgeous colors.
I had my hopes up for these products. However, I am not happy at all with them. I am giving two star review basically because I like the way the lipstick opens, and that it has a metal lid, not cardboard or plastic. That being said, I found the lipstick and gloss to wear off within a couple of hours. Also, the color is not at all as pictured on the QVC website. There really is no pink in the color. The colors are more an unattractive caramel and mocha combo that make my teeth look yellow. The lip gloss is sticky and difficult to apply with the wand. In this freezingly cold winter weather, I was hoping for something moisturizing on my lips, but neither of these are. Once again I have to pay The shipping to send these back!
