Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for a knife made of German steel and made in Germany. This knife is durable and sharp due to the proprietary ice-hardening process. Which means that the knife will stay sharp longer and last for years to come.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good chef's knife. Great for everyday use. The Gourmet line is a very good line of stamped knives. They are manufactured under tight controls and precise standards at Zwilling’s factory in Solingen, Germany. They have a full tang, running from the tip to the heel of the handle making these knives sturdy and stable. The comfortable handle is solid without being heavy. Because the composition of the steel, these knives will stay sharp and responsive with every cut. Keep the blades honed, sharpen once or twice a year and you will enjoy them each time you use them. This 8-chef’s knife, considered the mainstay of many chefs’, line cooks’ and busy households’ kitchens will do almost all the cutting work needed to prepare any meal. Dishwasher safe, but hand wash for to keep it looking new. The chef's knife comes in 6- and 10-inch lengths. I find the 6-inch an excellent size for chopping vegetables and cubing meat. The 10-inch is equally useful for larger scale prepping, melons in particular. Lots of average height people like the longer knife, but the 8-inch is still my go to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Knife quality Well, simply the best knife on the market for the average committed home chef. My last one was purchased in 1987. Someone used it to stab a chunk of frozen meat, breaking off the tip. Otherwise, we would be using it still.

I am so glad that this knife is lighter than some of the other knives I've used because I find it easier to use. I love the classic design and think this is a great beginner knife!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect This is an awesome chef knife. its not to heavy but the steel is good enough to cut like a much more expensive chefs knife. The edge stays sharp for a really long time and honing brings it right back to perfect every time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stamped instead of forged If you're looking for a stamped knife which is cut from a single sheet of metal as opposed to a heavier forged bolster (steel that's been pressed and formed into a shape) then this is a great choice for you. It is made in Germany from high quality corrosion resistant steel. It will retain it's sharp edge longer and has a full tang (the steel continues through to the end of the handle) which provides a nice weight distribution and feel in your hand.
