Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed that motor burned out after 3 uses Got this as a last minute Christmas present to replace an older Worx model which is very similar to the SunJoe except for the color. I was initially very pleased in that it seemed that the motor was more powerful than the Worx and that the string line was/is thicker and is easier to change out. I used the shredder on December 27 on a pile of leaves that you can see in the photo. I went through that pile in about an hour and changed out the line just once. Work went quickly except for changing bags. I figured I would just keep going until my back gave out and then spread the subsequent mulch in my garden the next day. A photo of one bag's contents is also attached so you can see how nicely the machine shreds the leaves down. So far so good. I had another smaller pile (about half the first one) that I did over the weekend. Took about 15 minutes. No problem at all. Today, however, I had another pile (photo attached) and was happily shredding along without any issues or problems. I was going slowly since you can tell alot about how the motor is doing and if the line is ok by the sound of the machine, even with ear protection on. I was scooping up leaves and dumping them in a fairly regular rhythm and was happy to get through the chore. Until....I saw smoke coming out of the vent, so I shut down the motor, and cleaned out what was left in the hopper which wasn't much. I took a video of the motor starting and stopping (on it's own) after I tried to restart the machine. You can see it twitching along with some smoke. Finally it gave out all together. The motor was not hot, not even warm to the touch. I guess they don't make good quality motors in China. I have already arranged to return this for credit. Very disappointed in the motor, the rest of the unit is an exact replica of the Worx shredder.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from My first SUNJOE product Easy to assemble and use. On AZ ash tree leaves, the mulcher "balls" up the leaves in the chute and they don't drop through to the bag very easily. Often had to stop and unclog. Mulching created tremendous amount of dust. Tried to slightly dampen leaves and it helped a little but drawback to this is the leaves don't mulch very fine. Not totally disappointed with this unit. It does mulch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product Easy to assemble, easy to use. It's a little slow to feed the leaves cutting line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Paid for itself already I have used this item three times this season. Each session lasted about 3 hours. The leaf mulch created when mixed with soil and perhaps some aged manure will negate the need for me to outlay money for mulch and/or topsoil. Also, easy to assemble and appears to be hardy although lightweight. A solid value in my opinion!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shredder The Sun Joe worked even better than I expected. I have a lot oak trees and the leaves often have thick stems or twigs attached. After reading a number of reviews of this product, I wasn't sure how effective it would be at handling these leaves but I decided to give it a try. I was very pleased with the way it tackled these stems and twigs and they were wet to boot. It appeared to me that the degree of reduction was even more than 16:1. I couldn't have asked for more.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Legs constantly drop I wanted to write a five star review. The machine itself is fabulous but the legs constantly give out/drop down when the machine is turned on despite tightening the leg locks. Multiple times I found myself having to grab the machine while it was on to avoid it collapsing on the ground since the legs would give in randomly and the machine would tilt to that side. The machine itself tackled a tough job with no problem but the legs are such an issue that I'm returning the machine..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good investment This product is very good. Inexpensive; easy to assemble; effective; good design. The shredding cords will break off if leaves contain a number of even small sticks. They are easy to replace and extras come with the original purpose. Hearing protection is necessary. Dust and particulate mask advisable. Easy breakdown for efficient storage. Good value for the price.
