Royal Palace® Rugs: About Rug Shedding
Some shedding is normal for a wool rug. Shedding occurs when static electricity attracts loose wool fibers, or when rubber-soled shoes—like sneakers—break off small wool fibers. This won't affect the wear of the rug. After receiving your new rug, we recommend that you vigorously vacuum it vertically, horizontally, and diagonally, with the brush set at a low setting. Repeat this for 7-10 days; it's okay if you fill more than one vacuum bag or canister's worth. This vigorous vacuuming, when new, will not harm the rug and will help to minimize shedding and groom your rug. You can then vacuum regularly with the brush at a medium or high setting. We recommend vacuuming once a week to every two weeks. You'll find wool fibers in the vacuum bag, but, again, this won't affect the wear of your rug.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ROYAL PALACE MAGIC I have previously purchased 6 rugs in a variety of sizes and colors. They are in a bedroom, dining room, and living room. Without research, I’m guesstimating they are 12-13 yrs. old. They are still beautiful and vibrant. Now I’m back for one more. Do not hesitate. You will be completely satisfied. I love having it delivered to my door.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from runner I have had royal palace in the past.,not happy with this one. A lot of mistakes in this runner. They changed the color and way too dark. I have my other rug it is much lighter and much prettier . I guess to save money it is 2 inches smaller. I would hesitate to buy another one. It seems they are only on once a year the rugs really should be much better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Review Update I recently wrote a review on the 5 X 7 Ivory rug I received and gave it 4 stars, based on overall look. QVC offered to replace it, but like others, repackaging it and shipping it out is more of a hassle than it is worth. I requested some sort of discount instead, and was given a reduction, which I thought was rather minimal given price of rug. In addition, I wrote a letter to Gary of Royal Palace Rugs and included photos of mistakes in pattern colors, resulting in incomplete leaves and scroll work. I noted that the quality was nothing like past rugs I have bought. His response was indicative of why the quality has deteriorated in Royal Palace rugs. He did not see the color errors that affected the pattern as a defect in a handmade rug. Their past workmanship was flawless. Their pattern and sculpting was done with precision. Unfortunately, not anymore, and what is worse is that their attitude reflects their acceptance. Quality is no longer a priority with Royal Palace Rugs and given my experience and that of other reviewers it is not an isolated issue. Stay away from Royal Palace rugs! I've included one photo as an example of one of the many pattern color errors in my rug.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not A Fan I have wood floors in my house and cover them with area rugs. I have many of them. These rugs from QVC are a very poor quality. I bought 3 for my Master Bedroom one of them being a. 5'x7'. They were quite costly and I expected the same quality as others which I have bought elsewhere. These are rough when I walk on them barefoot and they need constant vacuuming because they shed quite a bit. I find clumps of whatever material these rugs are made of all over my floors. There is still time for me to return them, but how is it possible to wrap them? They are heavy and at my age I'm just not strong enough to pack them up and carry them to the post office. I'm very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality - Returning Past owners of Royal Palace rugs...they were beautiful. Had to get rid of it, a new puppy had ruined it. In the past few years there was another RP special value, we ordered and returned...the rugs had "bald spots" where fiber was missing, white places where the fiber had no dye. So was thrilled to see these recent RP special value rugs...ordered the 5x7, two runners and a 3 x 4. Since we had them in the past I knew about the shedding and to vacuum. The 3 x4 was the first opened, when I vacuumed it, the rug developed pilling..when I tried to see if they were just on the surface, they didn't come off, pulling a bit harder, the whole fiber came out....the rug looked terrible...vacuumed more hoping it would improve...it didn't. Once you find a problem you examine more closely...the runner was not cut straight on one side....little white areas here and there...but the 5 x 7 had a spot about the size of a quarter with no fiber....bald! That's it...they're all going back (no exchange available anyway, but not sure we'd trust it). What a hassle packaging all 4 for return and my husband lugged them to the post office. (the prepaid return label was for the post office! Not UPS....for rugs???) Disappointed and sad. At first glance they are lovely, but upon close examination, the quality is poor, not like 10 yrs. ago. :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Breathtaking! This is my first RP buy and I find I am so pleased with my purchase of the 5x7 and the long runner. I finally decided on the ivory after almost getting the blue. The colors are so vibrant, a true work of art! This is a very well made rug that I hope lasts me as long as many of the reviewers have posted about theirs they puchased years ago. I own a Shark vaccum I can tell you that I filled that bad boy up the first time I "groomed" the rugs. I even had to take apart the beater bar and roller and clean those out! But I'm finding less and less as I groom these rugs daily and yes I do vaccum them on low across, up and down and sideways. They are so pretty in my living room and hallway. They are so soft on my feet and I see my four cats seem to like them as well as I find them laying sonwhere on them at any given time. I am so happy with my first but not last RP purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Beautiful! I am refreshing our master bedroom and ordered the 5x7 in blue for the foot of our bed - wow, is it stunning, very plush, the colors are gorgous, and the workmanship is superior! I simply could not be more pleased with this purchase. Even my husband has commented on how pretty this rug is! This will not be my last Royal Palace purchase as I plan to purchase a sage one for our guestroom - in fact, this may become an addiction for me!
