Perfect Celestial StoneThis Paraiba Agate stone is near a perfect Robin’s egg or Tiffany blue, in hand. Exactly like the pictures on my computer screen here. It has similar liquid-like translucency as a Paraiba Chalcedony, the color is just like a perfect flawless Turquoise – no veins nor marks whatsoever. Looking at it feels like staring into clear Caribbean waters. Calming, restful, gorgeous, Heavenly. From what I’ve experienced in sixty-something years, this hue is almost everyone’s favorite color, the world over. It was a Victorian color considered tops. The world loved it back then, as now. It is still THE color for many, including me, by far. This has been MY color for at least 6 decades. I’m always drawn to it.
The ring itself was a little smaller than I expected, based on the measurement description. I was hoping it was just a little larger. Still, for most ladies, this is a large ring. Definitely not dainty at all. I just happen to be a huuuge rings woman. Big and bold has always been my gemstones and ring choice, since I was a little girl.
I truly hate to critique my favorite jewelry designer and a master artist of that world, in any way, but I would have personally preferred a bezel setting rather than the prongs around this stunning stone. They get in the way for me. But, I always tend to lean towards bezel settings. They are old-world, super secure, and never catch on anything. I hope to see more of this stone in rings from the amazing Judith Ripka, and even larger in a bezel setting.
