Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best for getting in shape and losing weight I have all three of these videos, and almost all of Jillian's videos. 2 years ago I wanted to get into shape and lose some weight (I had been active but fell off the wagon for 2 years with a new job and a new move). I started with the 30 Day Shred video, and it kicked my butt into gear. I was sore all over, but I was determined to keep going because of Jillian's personality on the DVDs. It is definitely a good place to start, and she is tough but encouraging and realistic. There are modifier moves that really take into account someone trying to get into exercise, especially on 30 Day Shred. I started using 2 lb hand weights, and moved up to 3, then 5, then 8, repeating the cycle with each set of weights. I really enjoyed that workout, but I LOVE Ripped in 30. That is, I think, her best workout DVD. The exercises are really challenging, but not impossible, and yes, Jillian is a drill sergeant, but I needed someone to keep me motivated and accountable. I didn't do any of the meal plans from her website, and probably made a couple healthier food choices, but I think just from doing the DVDs, and progressing with my weight and intensity, over the course of 9 months, I lost close to 20 pounds and I have kept it off. I'm only 5 ft 3 in, so that's a big deal. Not only that, but I got toned, and felt strong and healthy. My legs, shoulders, arms, and stomach are firm and healthy looking, not soft and flabby like they were before I started exercising. You just need to commit to doing these workouts (which are short and go by really fast) 5-6 days a week, and you will see the results. Starting with Jillian was one of the best moves I've made in my entire life. I have recommended these workouts to all my girlfriends, and the ones who try it get hooked too.
