Having purchased many versions of both just crab and mixed seafood cakes of differing companies I was doubtful of ever finding the delicately seasoned cakes so full of crab meat you could see little else, like the 8 oz ones I originally purchased from Legal Seafood years ago. These are not spiced with any heat thank heavens! Nothing worse than having the lovely crab subtle taste overwhelmed by burning peppers. These are superior. Hands down the best flavor, texture (almost pure crab), and ease of preparation. Not being one to wait my first mission with a new product is to determine if it is microwave friendly. These are PERFECT cooked on a paper plate covered by a paper bowl for four minutes, turn over immediately, recover and cook for 1 1/2 minutes. I let mine sit for about 3 or 4 minutes and then settle in. Buying 3 or 4 oz crab cakes just feels like a waste of good time when these are such a high percentage of crab an 8 oz one is only 420 calories! Like the under 13 count per lb shrimp we always keep on hand for emergency food cravings while watching calories, they will now become a staple :). No sauce is needed at all and the way I prepare them leaves them perfectly moist. If pressed for a sauce I would go with your favorite white wine, butter, 2 teaspoons finely diced shallots and 1/3 teaspoon cornstarch all heated gently until the shallots are tender and the sauce comes together with just a bit of body. Even at that I'd serve it on the side, and you can substitute fresh lemon juice. . . . just tread lightly or you will quickly overwhelm the tender succulent seasoning already there. I tried drizzling white truffle oil over one and it was okay, but no better than the one in which I used a small amount of cheddar powder sprinkled on top. They frankly don't need anything if cooked leaving the moisture intact. I have read the reviews that mentioned a fishy odor. I have only had the aroma of the ocean in mine. A slightly briney aroma that is present in all of the best crab I have eaten. To each his own? Or maybe some crab smells stronger in different seasons? Different varieties? I just know that for my first review ever (aren't you lucky. . . lol) I wanted to try to answer all of the questions I had prior to this purchase. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Colossal does not mean better I have had these in the freezer Since December. I have to say they were packaged well, got her with Dry Ice and still frozen. It is June and I just tried on for the first time. I took two out last night and thawed them in the refrigerator over night. I baked them at 400 degrees like they said but not for 30 minutes as they were not frozen. They did a good job of selling these for an out ragous price of about $166.00. I know crab cakes are expensive many times. They kept saying that these were full of Crab, and different parts of crab some shredded and some lump. Not filler. I rarely order Crab Cakes because I try to stay away from Grains,bread and Gluten. I felt the textured did not feel like meet but Mush! Occasionally I could taste meat. I don't see how these are any better that the everyday ordinary Crab Cakes but these are just bigger. Because of the price I only gave it 2 stars and that was because they were still frozen when they came. I will not order again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disappoined I did not read reviews until after I ordered cakes. These are not same brand I ordered previously and I did not realize this till too late. Being on limited income this money was poorly spent. Cakes are large, but quite full of filler. Flavor is poor. I will nave hard time using them as husband will not be eating again and is extremely disappointed and irritated. Had planned to use for special guests and that is not at all possible. Will not ever order again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth the money! I love crab cakes and lived in Maryland. They looked good on air with large pieces of crab meat. What I got was crab mush in a ball. I love the convenance of shopping QVC but from now on crab will not be ordered if I can’t taste it first.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good not great I think the Graham and Rollins were better. I have had both. Plenty of crab .When I order again it will be the other brand. This brand is good for people who are not too familiar with crab cakes.
