Gourmet Basics by Mikasa Linden 16-Piece Set is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and Sturdy! I first saw this set (Linden) on a popular retailer site; I even purchased it there. Then I purchased a second set here on Mikasa. I wanted service for 8 and the retailer did not offer that, and in fact the retailer charged way more for the set. I received both sets direct from Mikasa. They came well packaged to avoid damages. I have had the dishes a little while now and use them every single day as the basic set, with absolutely no concerns. They are really beautiful and have just slight differences due to the glazing/effects. They look warm and wonderful with the bamboo chargers on the table setting and like I said they hold up very well to constantly being used, microwaved, washed and stacked several times per day. And let me add- with not chips, or cracks whatsoever. I absolutely recommend these dishes. I also purchased the serving bowls that are available. Only con is there is no meat platter (currently).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful, rustic-looking dinnerware I bought this set and a few extra plates to replace a set of Gibson dinnerware that chipped terribly the first couple of months we had them. This was a replacement of everyday dinnerware - and it's used a LOT. Sadly, the first week I used the Mikasa plates, I noticed a small chip along the edge of one plate. I know all stoneware is prone to chipping, so to be fair, we entertain a lot and it could be possible that we are just too hard on our dinnerware. This set is lovely... just beautiful, and fits in with our rustic cabin theme. Each piece is crafted just a bit different and I love that. I would still buy this set. The price is good, and so far there is just one chip on one plate. I cannot rave enough about the rustic elegance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement of Broken Product I received my pasta bowl smashed. I called and asked how to return it for a new one and they said no need we will send you out a new one asap and so I kept the broken one, just in case you know, and about a week later my new pasta bowl arrived unborken. I recycled the broken one and was very pleased with the no hassle replacement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Break easily! Save your money! We bought 8 settings and now have only 4 dinner plates and 6 salad plates. We've managed to break them doing things like removing them from the cupboard and picking them up from the counter. The last one broke in a moderately full dishwasher (see photo). We're waiting for the last 4 dinner plates to break so we can replace this terrible set. Oh, we bought this set to replace one we received as a wedding gift....after nearly 15 years!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful but Breaks easily The product is beautiful. However, it breaks really easy and isn't microwavable. Also, one of the plates arrived broken.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Keep breaking in half I love these dishes how they look but they keep breaking for no apparent reason. 3 months and 4 broken... they split right down the center. I think they are defective. It doesn't matter how great a plate looks if it won't stay together ...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broken Plates =( I, like some other owners, bought 3 boxed sets from a Box Store, not only did it have 4 dinner plate, salad plates, bowls, and mugs, but, since it was being sold in a box store, it came with a set of dessert plates! I absolutely LOVE this design, went beautifully with our decor in the kitchen/dinning area. Took them all out of the box, hand washed and hand dried all and put them away. Within 2 months I have had 3 plates break on me straight down the middle, perfectly clean cut! 2 dinner plates, and 1 salad plate. Since I love the design so much, I decided to call Mikasa to see what could be done, and Mikasa provided superb Customer Service over this. I directed Sue to the reviews that others have posted recently and she was very apologetic and stated that this shouldn't be happening. She is shipping out 2 dinner plates and a salad plate. She created a thourough customer file and gave me a reference number in case anything like this happens again. The reasoning behind two stars (as I LOVE Mikasa products) is because if there are a fair amount of people calling stating that their plates are breaking with out the customer being hard on the plates, then I believe Mikasa should roll out a recall on their plates as they are defective. For all 3 plates to break in the same exact pattern, there is a defective issue that needs to be discussed. Customer Service and Mikasa brand...5 Stars. I am not going to say yes or no to recommend this product as I don't know....Lots of others have had a wonderful experience, but buying the smaller set, not from a Box Store. So, I wonder if the batch that was being sent to Box Stores are the only ones defective? Thank you Mikasa, particularly Sue in Customer Service, for the superb professionalism.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dishes keep breaking down the middle I purchased 3 boxed sets of these dishes from a box store. They came with an extra plate...a dessert plate. The second box I opened had a plate break down the middle while I was opening the second box. All I heard was a pinging noise and when I went to pick up the small stack of dessert plate to wash them one was broken. I took them back and got another set. After I washed them & went to put in them on the drain cloth to dry another one broke right down the middle as I set it down. It was not dropped or bumped. Then after we used them for dessert, while clearing the table another one cracked down the middle! Something is wrong with these dishes. I love the pattern but am very disappointed with the workmanship.
