Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! Installation was a breeze to put this up and set up on the app. This gives me a better sense of security and is easy to use!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nest Smoke Detector I just added a new Nest Smoke detector. As with the others, the installation was quite easy and the automatic integration into my network was equally as easy. I have no other Nest devices, but based on the smoke detector install and experience I probably will look at the other devices.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Installation advice I have 7 Nest Protects. They did not last as long as advertised before failing (7 years for Gen 1, 10 years for Gen 2). The instructions say to connect the black wire in the connector to the black wire in the wall, same for the white wires, and to cap off the red wires. Get a volt-meter before you do that, because in my home, the power is in the red wire, not the black wire, and I've had two visits from an electrician ($$$) to install these correctly. If you are replacing a Nest Protect, start by going to the Settings for that unit and click on "Remove Nest Protect," and after you take the old unit off the wall, remove its batteries. Otherwise you will have two units with the same name, which produces confusion in the app and in the announcements. Create a spreadsheet with the serial number, location, and the dates of manufacture, replace-by, purchase, installation, and failure. Otherwise it's hard to keep track. Also, keep all the screws. The new screws don't always fit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nest protect So hard to connect with wifi, not a user friendly app, the worst one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Awesome if it worked as advertised Support was great during set up, however neither of my two units show as powered in the app,, which they both are as they are hardwired. Frustrating.
