Rated 2 out of 5 by from Was Expecting More For over $600 I was expecting this to out do my 5 year old vacuum that continuously clogs. So when I received it I was excited to unbox it and put it to work (aw, Adulthood!) But, to my dismay the vacuum performed rather poorly. I don't know if its because I have longer haired carpet or that the suction on the unit I received was subpar but it didn't out do my my other vacuum...and that is saying a lot. I gave it 2 stars because it did pick up some dog hair, but it didn't give the performance a $600 vacuum should that's for sure!!! So back to QVC it goes and I will repurchase my other vacuum again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pretty decent, but.... I have owned several Dyson vacuums over the last decade... I used to think that I would never own another brand, because they worked so well, and were designed so thoughtfully. This latest purchase has changed all that. Sure, it's got tremendous suction, and on hard floors, that is great. On carpets, the turbine powered brush bar is lackluster (my fault for thinking it should be fine, I should have gotten an upright like I normally would), and there is no option for a powered beater bar. I'm not holding that against it, I only include that as a way of saying that if you have much carpet, go for the upright, not the canister. The reason I give it such poor reviews go more to the engineering aspect of the vacuum. Proprietary connectors are whatever, I get it, capitalism means deny usage of other brand/generic attachments. But these proprietary connectors have gone too far, and between poor design and/or poor manufacturing technique, they catch a lot of hair and debris, leaving me having to clean out the connectors, accessories, and hose almost every time I use the vacuum, and sometimes forcing me to stop mid-floor to clear a buildup. When accessory denial gets in the way of your own accessories working, it's not a smart business/design choice. The next thing that gets to me is the dustbin. One thing I've always liked about Dysons is that I just dump it over a trash can, give it a shake, close it, and continue. The new scraper might provide some benefit (not that I see any), but what it really does is pinch and hold any hairs that are in the bin, forcing me to reach in and remove stuff almost very time I empty the vacuum. Gross. This is one of the biggest benefits I always loved about my Dysons in the past, killed off by a 'new and improved feature'. Overall, the vacuum has decent capabilities, particularly on hard floors, but the design/manufacturing flaws are just too problematic. Next time I am looking for a new vacuum, Dyson will probably be on the list to look at, but it's going to be nearer the bottom, next to those aquatic predator vacuums

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Improvements I have been using a Dyson Animal Canister Vacuum for the last four or five years and love them since we have a large yellow lab who sheds constantly. I vacuum every day and decided to purchase a second vacuum so I would not have to carry it up and down the stairs. The improvements that have been made to the sweeper are awesome and make picking up dog hair even easier. I will never use another kind of sweeper when animal hair is involved!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice vac but I would change a couple thngs We have using this vacuum for about 1.5 months now. Over-all we like it. We have a larger home with two German Shorthairs so we did not think going cordless was the right choice. It has great suction and the way the tools articulate you can really get into all the tight spots. There is a tool for almost every need and we got to say they pull the dog hair off the fabric. I would like to see a longer power cord. I feel like I am always stopping to unplug and plug in. I would like to see a longer suction hose as well. We have the tools for dusting but we are finding you need to lift up the canister with one hand and then use the other hand to "dust" the items higher up. So it is hard to move the items on the shelves while both hands are holding the vacuum. A longer suction hose or an optional extension would be nice. Speaking of the tools, why do they all need adapters to fit onto the suction hose? You would think the tools would all have the "red dot" so they would connect without having to look around for the adapter that you left downstairs. A couple times when pulling the filter canister off the base it has opened up dumping all the dirt onto the base unit. We have been very careful to make sure not to depress the red release button to far but yet this has happened a couple times. I think there could be some improvement to that little plastic latch at the bottom of the filter. Like I said at the beginning we are happy with the vacuum and would buy it again. But there is still a couple things we would change/add.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't suck up a cheerio, but eats up our socks I am extremely disappointing in my Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal. It can suck up hair from a hard surface but that's about all. I was vacuuming my son's carpeted floors and it sucked up some pieces of string, but left behind TINY pieces of paper. I vacuumed under the radiator and it pulled out the metal piece that holds the sections together. It also sucks up socks instantly. But it still couldn't suck up the paper. I had cleaned out the canister just before starting their room and after vacuuming the entire room noticed the canister only had a few pieces of string. Nothing else, no dust, hair, nothing. But the brush brushes the carpet so it LOOKS like it has been cleaned. I switched the brush attachment to the small stair attachment and re-vacuumed the entire room in 2-inch segments. I finally saw the canister fill up with dust. My kids are allergic to dust mites and animals so it's really important that my vacuum works. Cheerios get shot across the room rather than sucked up into the vacuum. What a waste of $500.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got it yesterday - It's awesome! What a big difference from my last vacuum (cinetic ball animal orig.). This one is much better (great suction), I hope I have it for years to come! Stay tuned. Thanks to Dyson for helping me through the process, I highly recommend staying in touch with Dyson support if you have problems, they'll definitely help you out.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth the money My husband purchased this for me, because my inexpensive, bissell Air which is 10 years old was slowly dying. First the plastic parts are extremely cheap, I don’t expect the canister that collects the dirt to last out the year, twice it has opened when I removed it to empty. The suction is only average, I’ve vacuum twice and still pickup dog hair. If it wasn’t for the poor canister design, I might like it. It is very easy to assemble and adjust.
