Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad griddle Too many hotspots. Food does not cook evenly. Induction cooktop works great

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like It And It Works Well Although the unit I bought was 'as is' I could tell it was basically unused and had only been used in an 'on air' presentation. I'm familiar with induction cooktops as I have 3 single NuWave and 1 NuWave Double and have been using them for several years which has reduced my electric bill from using my electric range. I was also aware that the induction coil would only be around 6" and knew that preheating the pan used for cooking would provide more even cooking. I made a recipe for Pork Chops & Spanish Rice from an old Southern Living Cookbook and it came out perfect. I also made 3 'over easy' fried eggs using the griddle pan and was impressed with the even cooking and the eggs came out perfect. I only gave 4 stars because I used the 'Pot' setting to heat up a can of spinach using my 1.5 L T-Fal encapsulated base induction ready sauce pan and even at the lowest (P 1) setting, the pot was at a full boil. Yes, the higher P 2 - P 5 settings resulted in a higher boil, so I pushed the 'Pot/Pan' button and used the 'Pan' (Griddle Pan) heat settings and had better control. I do realize however the 'Pot' settings may work as intended when using larger saucepans or stockpots, and will try that at a future date. Overall I do like this Cooks Essentials 12" Induction Griddle set, it works well. It is a good value considering you get the induction cooktop and the griddle pan with the lid. And yes, it is also nice that I can use the griddle pan and lid on my NuWaves!! This is a great set for anyone who wants to enter into the 'Induction Age'!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Surprised I thought the induction diameter would be about the same size as the pan. Imagine my surprise when water boiled and the area where it bubbled was no larger than a small burner on my electric stove. Thus you have uneven cooking because of that one small area being heated, with a large diameter pan! Gave 2 stars because it worked and I liked the ease of cleanup and free pan. I use it for cooking outside when camping.
