Carolyn Pollack 2"L Sterling Silver Extender Chain is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from sturdy and SOLDERED My experience with Carolyn's extenders (I own multiples) is that they are sturdy and well made. I can make my own extenders.... anyone can, if they are willing to use unsoldered jump rings to attach the clasps. The reason I am very wary of using my own homemade extenders on expensive pieces is because a local jewelry store, who specializes in very expensive handmade Native American jewelry, sold me a leather cord with an unsoldered jump ring to attach the clasp (that was flimsy at best) and never told me it was unsoldered. I didn't think to ask because they were selling expensive, SERIOUS and often one-of-a-kind pieces. They knew I was going to use it on an expensive, authentically Native American pendant that I had bought in their store. Well it came apart... luckily for me in my home, so I didn't loose the pendant. I looked at the jump ring attachment, was horrified and complained. They were very casual about the issue and told me most leather cord collars were attached that way these days. I found out that they also altered their chains without soldering the jumps. This discovery made me really appreciate the time and attention to detail Carolyn's company puts in on their pieces. It isn't just the price of silver folks ( which has gone way up this year), it's the workmanship. I highly recommend this and other extenders by Carolyn. I have started to make some of my own leather cords and chains because I like a shorter length not sold in the market. I use 16 gauge jump rings or split jump rings (like on a key chain) to attach. The split rings don't open as easily (think used in keychains) but are not very attractive. When using single wire jumps the thicker gauge the has less chance the ring shape will be altered with use and the less chance the ring will open. The smaller the number the thicker the wire gauge. I wish I could solder the jump rings on my cord attachments, though. I pay a jeweler to solder the jumps on the chains I make and he doesn't like doing it because it's tricky. Apparently too much heat can ruin the mechanism of the lobster claw clasp. Most jewelers do not have laser soldering equipment and if they do one solder is VERY EXPENSIVE. All this explanation is to say simply Carolyn's extenders are not over priced because they are well made. I will NEVER buy another leather cord at that local Native American jewelry store or anywhere else except Carolyn's companies. I buy Italian made extender chains as well as Carolyn's because they are soldered. THEY ARE NOT CHEAP either! Needless to say my very expensive native american pendant goes on Carolyn's leather cords and on Carolyn's chains.... not my own. Also one should note, should they want to make their own extenders, that less expensive, coated base metal or brass chain is often open linked (all the links of the chain are unsoldered) and should never be used to make necklaces or extenders for expensive pieces. If you want to make your own extenders use silver from a reputable dealer like Rio Grande and try to have a jeweler solder the jump ring attachments at the ends..... The operation will be at least the same price if not much more expensive than buying Carolyn's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for a necklace or bracelet! I own 3 of the extenders. Most of my jewelry is in sterling silver and I own a number of CP pieces. The extender lets me change the length of a chain (necklace or bracelet) depending on my style choices for the day. It is an easy and affordable solution to wear your jewelry at different lengths. This extender is lightweight so it can be seen or unseen. I put mine on a bracelet that wasn't a CP and it works just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buying a second one today I echo what other's say about being too rowdy and not trusting a magnetic extender/clasp. I was glad to find this. I ordered some chunky JAI bracelets in one size too small. I could not return because I wanted to wear 2 together and they only had one in my size/style and were on clearance. Plus I am lazy! This does the trick - even with those chunky chain link JAI styles. Once I saw how awesome these worked I am ready to get another for the second chain. It is one thing to design great jewelry - but to take the time to come up with these type of complementary items to go with jewelry is just awesome. Hats off to Carolyn! Carolyn is the Queen of Southwest design, but this piece is more neutral and can go with other styles. And it is real silver - a lot of these types of products are some silver-tone or gold-tone over base metal. And the price is great. You cannot go wrong with this. Most people think of this type of item for necklaces but definitely go for it with necklaces AND bracelets, would likely work to make a bracelet an anklet as well as it is that attractive. Thanks QVC and Carolyn Pollack! Buy this as a gift - everyone has that one piece of jewelry they'd love to wear but is slightly too small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect and still stylist I'm too rowdy to have the magnetic extensions for jewelry, and this Carolyn Pollack's silver extender chain did just the trick with both function and style. No regrets but one suggestion: make more in various lengths? A good purchase for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have! If you have many chains and necklaces from Carolyn Pollack's collection, then you really need this pretty AND totally functional extender because it matches. But if you just need an extender for all of your chains, then this is also going to fill the bill and that's because it is such a beauty. And if it slips around to where people can see that you're wearing an extension...no worries...it is classy and will not embarrass you in any way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, Quality Extender I'm so glad that Carolyn makes these extenders and QVC sells them. It's difficult to find these at most stores and when you do, they are cheaply made out of mystery metal and break easily. I have an Effy 925 designer cross necklace that is shorter than I prefer to wear, and this saves the day. The extender works with other designer pieces and is strong, beautiful, and naturally enhances the piece instead of looking like an attachment. I highly recommend this chain. Carolyn's jewelry items are so well made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful! I love this because it matches my Barbra Bixby gem floral bracelet I bought because the magnetic clasp kept opening when I wore it and this matches all the details on the bracelet. The only thing is I would love if you made one also that had a lobster claw clasp at each end for a situation like this bracelet where you need to connect it at both ends because I had to purchase an additional one with a double ended clasp to be able to have a safety clasp on this bracelet which ended up costed more than $60.00 just to be able to wear this bracelet without worrying about losing it. This is beautifully detailed and well made, just love it.
