Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed This item was meant for a gift for my great niece but I discovered that another fee is required in order to get another item that is needed to grow the butterflies. The box was sent in a shipping bag and arrived crushed. I will return this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for kids Ordered this for my granddaughter. From what I was told by my daughter was that the enclosure was a nice size and sturdy. I do not know the outcome of the rest. She had to mail in for the larve or caterpilars. If it works then it should be a great lesrning experience for the 6 year old. Besides the learning experience, she will be helping out the butterfly population when they are released into the wild. They then can migrate south to mexico tohibernate and return in the spring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very educational! I bought this for something special to do with my granddaughters over the summer (ages 4 &6). Even all the adults involved thought it fun and educational. It was very interesting to see the stages the caterpillars go through. We were sent 5 caterpillars and they all turned into healthy butterflies that we set free! Very nice and definitely worth the experience and price. I highly recommend this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kids LOVED it!! But, couple things... I work with 6th graders & got this after a teacher friend talked about it. Kids loved it! Read directions & helped THEM do what they were supposed to. Three things, one, as one other person mentioned, you will see a substance resembling blood when the butterfly's hatch. You may want to print something out from the internet about these butterflies for kids to look at that talks about the stages. It is not blood as they do not have blood. Second, I did not use the sugar solution & pipettes, instead I cut up oranges, squeezed them a lil-to get some juice out. I changed it every couple days. Oh, and one more thing, put a plastic/foam plate on the bottom (as big as the screened habitat, it gets messy & easier to change the fruit that way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life of a caterpillar I got this for a friend who enjoys butterflies. My children and I watched them grow and marveled at how fast they shed/grew. We took them, reborn butterflies, to my friends home for release. I enjoyed all stages even the creeping crawling!
