"Perfect Pies" Cookbook by Michele Stuart
I purchased this cookbook for my father for Father's Day, but picked up one for me as well. I have always had trouble with pie crusts; beautiful pies, but horrible tough pie crust. My father loved his book and spent most of the rest of day with his head in the cookbook. Michele's instructions are easy to follow and I personally appreciated the helpful hints! I would purchase this book again for gifts for family, friends, or any occasion where a cookbook may be appreciated. As far as my pie crust, well I am now well on my way to a perfect crust to complement my delicious apple pie. THANK you for providing great cookbooks. I have enjoyed adding many to my growing collection.
Finally a beautiful, delicious pie!
I recently received my Perfect Pies cookbook and absolutely loved it - and that was before baking any of the recipes! My sister and I had the same old pie dough recipe, only difference was mine was thick and ugly compared to hers. She passed away 6 years ago, at the young age of 53 and I have tried in vain to replicate her delicious pies.
While watching In the Kitchen With David with guest Michele, I was inspired to try again.
The book is FANTASTIC! It lead me step by step to the creation of my first-ever blueberry pie from scratch!
I am so excited about the success in creating a beautiful, delicious pie! I wish my sister was here to share this treat, but I think she knows.
I highly recommend this cookbook to anyone who has any inhibitions when it comes to making a pie. This cookbook is a great one and will soon start to show signs of use - there is already Crisco on the crust page!,
Perfect Pies, good basics
This cookbook is good for some one that has not done a lost of pie baking.
It walks you through with good instructions.
Big Time Bakers
I'm not sure this cook book is the best one for me. I work full time and don't have much time for baking. I got it for the chicken pot pie recipe , which I found takes like 2 1/2 hours. It's something I will have to work into my weekends. The thing I don't like about the Perfect Pies cook book, is that it doesn't open flat. I think it should have a spiral cover. Anyone who uses a cook book will tell you. It's hard to deal with pages that don't stay in place, when you have your hands full of what ever your making.
I bought this book to start making more pies than I have been making. I was happy to see a recipe for pie crust. I made it the first try, followed the instructions to the letter, and it fell apart when I started to roll it out. Threw it away. I attempted to make it again, and the same think happened. I can't figure out why this is happening. I pieced together the dough and managed to roll out some sort of crust to finish my pie. I made the coconut custard pie. Although it was fairly easy, it had too much of a citrus taste. Next time less or no lemon zest and lemon juice. I am really DISAPPOINTED about the pie crust. I am giving it 3 stars because I am hoping the other recipes are better.
Skillfully and Artistically done!
This is my second purchase of this beautifully done book. I think this one will be perfect for my dear friend that recently retired after 30 yrs of teaching high school chemistry/biology. More important is she grows her own fruit and veggies and cans them (in the south we say, "puts them up"). Now she will have time to use her products to bake some of these fabulous recipies.
A Blue Ribbon Winner For Novices
My husband is a great cook in the kitchen and with his grill and smoker, but was always a little tentative about attempting pies.....until this cookbook! Let me say that yum is the word that came out of his mouth to describe this cookbook, not to mention we have had several pies so far that were fantastic! One example was a pear pie, that was out of this world. He even substituted splenda for the sugar so that our diabetic son could have some and he said it was the best fruit pie he has ever had! Thanks!
NONE OF THE RECIPES WERE UNUSUAL. NOTHING I DON'T ALREADY HAVE IN OTHER COOK BOOKS
Not worth it
I have made pies since I was litle. I was excited to learn new techniques and recepies. I do not care for the crust. There did not seem to be any "new" recepies. Definately not worth if.
Great Pie Cookbook
I just received my book and have read through the recipes, there are many that I am going to try. They seem easy and very flavorful which is right up my ally.
good for beginners
I am a retired baker bought book on a whim to go with, all the other ones I have. I like my crust recipe better more flaky, will use some of the recipes, not enough pics.
A great pie recipe book.
When I was a child my mother used to make the best rhubarb pies . I'm 64 now and I have never been able to find or duplicate her recipe. When I got the book, I immediately looked for a rhubarb pie recipe and there it was. I made the pie and it brought back good memories because it smelled and tasted just like what I remember. I am anxious to try other recipes. Thanks so much for offering this book.
