Dyson DC25 Ball Upright Vacuum with 5 Attachments
Does NOT groom carpet!!!!!
The whole point of a vacuum is not only to pick up dirt, but to groom the carpet. It will not lift the nap on my carpets like my old vacuum does. Called Dyson and they said it's not meant to do that! What? So it's basically a glorified carpet sweeper. It was misrepresented on QVC and I'm stuck with a hole in my pocket!
I already have a Dyson that I've had for years but the older I get, it was just too heavy so I decided to try this one thinking it would be much lighter than my old one and also it had the swivel motion on it which mine doesn't have.
This one I felt was heavier than the one I have, especially so top heavy that my arm was actually sore when I finished trying it out.
Also, I felt the construction was pretty flimsy. So, I sent it back.
I will say on a positive note, that the suction was really good.
Dyson vacuums are sold for their suction power, which they do have. I was so excited to own this vacuum. However, while it does pick up small dust and dirt it jams and quits sucking as soon as it picks up anything of substance - even small morsels or tiny slivers of paper. That is the most disappointing. The other reviews are correct, the hose is tight and it is not a light vacuum despite that the Dyson rep can pick it up with one arm. I wanted to write a review so that this can not be, "customer top rated", for the price and the name it should work better and more smoothly.
Wasn't what I expected
I just purchased my first Dyson vacuum and I am just a little disappointed. I read the reviews before I purchased it and everyone said it was great! I have always had a Hoover vacuum cleaner and I wish I did now. The vacuum is not easy to use nor is it practical. Also, I don't think it picks up great. When I go to use the attachments, the base and handle are so clumsy and hard to maneuver. Again, I wish I could return it and get a new vacuum cleaner.
In conclusion, please don't make the mistake that I did. I would not recommend this vacuum cleaner. I would say this is the worst product I ever purchased and now I have to live with it.
Best Purchase Ever
This was the best vacuum I've ever had and it was not hard to assemble when I first receive it.
Not good for me
I had a dc24 about 5 years ago, wanted to upgrade, way to heavy for me I sent it back
I have six rods in my back and two bad knees.....and this ball technology helps return the effort that it takes in measured pain to vacuum.
No, this vacuum isn't perfect as when you go to use the pull-out stretch tubing with which you will be using most of the tools, it is TIGHT and difficult to stretch out! VERY DIFFICULT! And it doesn't seem to loosen up to become more flexible or easier to stretch out with use! I vacuumed full length draperies and pulling on that tubing was QUITE the work-out! But, I've got t to say that the suction on this vacuum is excellent. And who doesn't love to see what one has "gathered" for their efforts? Mind you, now, the ball is kind of tall and the vacuum doesn't fit UNDER a lot of things you would like to get under.....like on bare floors in the kitchen UNDER the cabinets!
But overall, I like this vacuum better than my older purple "ANIMAL"!
I thought I had clean carpets since I always vacuumed daily to every other day...boy was I wrong. I was in shock with how much dirt & grime was sucked out of my carpet, not just for the first time that I vacuumed with my new Dyson but for the first few times that I vacuumed! It just makes me sick to my stomach to think I had my grand babies crawling on my carpet prior to my new Dyson. I also think my home smells cleaner. I will never be without a Dyson vacuum again!!
Works Great, Just Too Heavy
This machine picks up pet hair like nobody's business, but it is uncomfortably heavy. I couldn't imagine using it on a regular basis, due to the weight.
This vacuum is fabulous. It really sucks. Literally! I'm amazed at the amount of pet hair and dirt it pulls up. I love seeing all the dirt.
Only two little things about it . . . first, the beater bar doesn't beat my carpets as hard as some of my other vacs so it doesn't always beat away the foot prints and such making the carpet look smooth (some rugs, not all). Second, the cord could be longer.
But all in all, it does a better job overall than our Kenmore, Eureka or Oreck. It's the easiest to push and maneuver.
My Second Dyson
This is the same model I bought about six years ago. I have three dogs who spend a lot of time inside the house. Because of that fact - I vacuum almost everyday. I knew my first Dyson was starting to lose a little of the suction and performance from when it was new, so I used my older Dyson on a piece of carpet, and then went over it again with my new one, and it picked up quite a bit that was left behind. I've now retired my first Dyson to the garage and it will be the car vacuum. So happy with this purchase. There is literally no dog hair embedded anywhere once this unit has gone over it. I'm always amazed at what comes up from my floors. Holy cow! Buy it, it's worth every penney. I got this when it was a TSV and it was half of what I paid for my first one.
This vacuum is too heavy, and hard to maneuver. I thought it would be great, but it isn't, so I'm sending it back.
