Have had my Oreck vacuum for about 5 months and I am happy with the way it cleans and lifts the carpet pile. The nap of my carpet is not high and I like the way the vacuum lifts it. It does great on linoleum, have not seen any scratches or beater marks. Have a Dyson and this vacuum does much better. The swivel head took a little while to loosen up and work smoothly and even when I turn the vacuum to low speed, it will suck up throw rugs. Have a large dog with long hair and the Oreck will actually suck the hair into the bag and not around the beater bar like my Dyson does. The Oreck does not have extra tools but I have a canister vacuum for those jobs.

Wait for better technology
My husband still pulls out my old Oreck while I'm trying hard after 5 months to figure out this new vacuum. Works optimally on the shortest nap carpet in the house, not at all on rugs and leaves as much on the hard floor as it picks up. Medium nap will bog it down. Brush pulled it away at first, not so much now. Pro's, no odor, easy bag change (uses the same bag as my old one which is a bonus) and the swivel is weird but really helps on those quick runs around furniture. Has a great cord length and has run consistently without power problems in 5 months of heavy use. Light to carry but feels heavier to use. Overall, wish I'd sent it back after a couple uses.

TERRIBLE
I have owned oreck in the past and liked them. After using this one for 3 months, i discover that it has scratched my hardwood floors. Of course it is too late re return. WIll not buy again or will I recommend oreck again. STAY AWAY

Awful
Have owned an Oreck for 8 yrs and no problem. This vac is awful, The belt has broken 3 times in a row and can't use on throw rugs because it sucks them up even if there is no fringe. Took it in to the Oreck store and was told this vac is not made for any time of shag carpet. Of course, I have shag and the vac drags and does not adjust. Too bad QVC didn't let you know this was not for shag. What a waste of good money.

not for everyone
This vacuum is not for the faint of heart. If your carpets are dense at all, the vacuum is so powerful it bogs down during operation. I could not use it to collect dust off of my laminate flooring because the beater bar is so powerful it scratches. It also eats small throw rugs. The power drive makes it hard on the wrist and hands when pulling backward --making it hard to control and easy to run into furniture and baseboards. If you have any problems with the wrists or hands I would not recommend this vacuum. In my opinion this is an example of a great concept at the drawing board, but when put into action makes it a challenge to use.

pulls carpet out!
I had no idea this vacuum was self propelled. After i got used to that, I am afraid it
picks up not only debris but flies it all over the unit. It also picks up the carpet fibers. I have to pull them out of the roller a couple of times during the vacuuming process. I am debating whether to send it back or not. I might get in touch with the company itself to discuss these issues. It does have good suction.

Maybe Maybe not
I ordered the purple vacuum. I like the fact that it is lightweight and moves extremely well. It is very attractive and works well except that it did pull some of the carpet threads out. Also, and this is my fault, I didn't verify whether or not it had on board attachments. I didn't really even think about it. I could really use those. I see some more expensive models have them, but they are way too expensive. I'm still deciding whether or not to keep it. If someone wants to live with the CONS, it is a great vacuum.

NO Vacuum Will TOUCH VALUE QUALITYor RELIABILILITY
I got the purple and love it for the most part. You do need to change the bag because little bits will come out if you don't and you think it's not working, but the bag is full...lol, cost of bags may be a little high if you vacuum a lot or make that a priority. It sucks it up and runs away with you if you are small like me, but I have had every vacuum on the market! Every VACUUM! Even the demo's when you get your carpet shampooed free and the canisters, heavy, lite, from the major store we all know, and... I can't believe I got this for the price of the major all night department store, and it's still running and working like new after a few months! And it is quiet too! You can't find that; and I can't afford a Dyson; I'm not buying looks unless they belong to me!! lol...Some vacuums quit or get loud within 3 months; not this one. I can't afford the high end vacuums but this IS a high end vacuum. I have low older pile, 6 yrs old and light beige throughout; keeps me from shampooing so often CON, just don't know which bags to use; they are never clear on that and I must find the registration information for my 2 *once a year* tune up. That is my CON. Oreck did send my second bag, but no belts so they must be with Oreck shop, and only used when it's time for the tune up.(so sad to guess) The TSV info said, 2 bags, 2 belts, and I finally got the 2 bags, one in and one out, but again, "no belts." Not clear on that. But I bet you that I may never need to buy another vacuum again!!! I mean who shops for vacuums as a fun thing to do? Not me; I want it done! Not high priced! Name brand! and on to better things, and I believe this vacuum did it for me! I would buy it while it's available if I were you. I used to work for the city and they used Oreck; it must have been 16 yrs old and still going. Don't quote me.

great vacuum!
Vacuuming has become very hard on my back but this vacuum has remedied that. It is a great vaccum. Glad I ordered it.

Love This Vacuum
I have 4 other Oreck vacuums and this one is my favorite. I use one upstairs, one downstairs and one in each of my vacation homes. This one is amazing and is actually fun to use! A great buy!

Best Vacuum Ever
We already had an Oreck vacuum that we use upstairs. When my husband and I saw this Oreck as a TSV we decided to order it to use downstairs. It is so light and easy to use. I have a problem with my wrist and knowing the ease with which our other Oreck vacuum handles, I knew this was going to be a breeze to operate. We love it and use it every day. It is truly a dream of a vacuum! Thank you!

yikes!
Boy is this vacuum ever powerful. It sucks up every rug and eats the fringe on anything. I spend most of my time trying to dislodge the rug from the vacuum. I bought this because it was supposed to be easy on the back, but it has been a real struggle for me. Unless you have extremely heavy rugs or carpeting, I would not recommend this to anyone.
