Bob Mackie's Embroidered Zip Front Short Sleeve Caftan
Love this caftan
I have this in Black and love it. I will use it as a bathrobe and coverup around the house for the summer months. It is flattering to my curvy figure and very comfortable to wear. The fabric is heavier than I expected but that makes is more flattering to my curves so I am happy with that. I am 5'2" and it reaches to just on my ankles. I am size 14 and the medium fits be perfectly. I am considering getting another colour - love the look of the teal blue....But I wish QVC would ship direct to Australia! I had to pay postage to MyUS and then pay MyUS another $51 to have this + 1 light top posted to Australia!!! So I will have to be content with just the one caftan I think! I couldn't find anything like this in Australia.
Just one suggestion - please add a hook look to the back next of this caftan - I like to hang it on a hook on my bedroom door.
Please ship direct to Australia.
Love me my Caftans
This is gorgeous. Got it in black in an XL, which is my true size. I'm 5'8". Love the material (I think Polyester is a "wonder" fabric) and I'll buy any and all of your caftans that have pockets! I only wear them around the house so I need pockets. Also I'd rather (as most here have said) have side slits and not the slit in the front. While most of us who sew recognize that when you have a break-away zipper, that's usually where the slit is designed, but I'm also not thrilled with break away zippers. So... please include pockets, make the item with a neck opening that would incorporate a small zip or buttons and put the slits on the sides and I'll be back for many others! Love your designs and am wanting more.... :))
I agonized before buying this, that it would look too flashy or frumpy on me, but what a nice surprise that it looks quite elegant and comfortable. It feels like a nice weighty Rayon, which I was afraid would shrink, but the label says 100% polyester, so I can hand wash it inside out. Very glad that I bought it- I will wear it out on my patio during the warm summer months and into fall. I usually wear a small, but I went with XS and the fit is great.
CLASSY & ELEGANT
I just got the aqua it is SO classy & elegant. It's not like other caftan's, which make you look so huge.
This fits perfect & not too long. I'm 5'3 it's SO BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you so much Mr. Mackie for making such classy caftan's that can make us look fabulous.
Love it so pretty with details ,fabric light ,non wrinkle fabulous. !!!!
Simply beautiful. Fits well, looks clasically elegant!!
THANKS AGAIN, BOB -- ANOTHER CLASSY HIT...
...PERFECTION IN FIT EVEN FOR MY PETITE FIVE-FOOT FRAME PLUS SUPERB MACKIE ART, DESIGN, FABRIC THAT FLOWS WITH CLASS AND ELEGANCE... MOST OF ALL IT FITS OVERALL ESPECIALLY THE LENGTH JUST ABOVE MY ANKLE... I AM IN HEAVEN, BOB, THANK YOU. I must brag about the softness and texture of the fabric which is 'crafted' (sewn) to perfection, as it flows and caresses my derma with aplomb! This is my first Caftan and the experience I annoint as -- MAGNIFICENT MACKIE! The zip front slides sleekly and easy, while the elegant embroidery art is divine. I love it overall including the short-sleeves and the size medium in turquoise; hand washing and drying gifts the material with wrinkle-free & return to elegant shaping. The finishing touches of hem, pockets, slits, and art at the neck are perfection, and I LOVE THE FABRIC! The price is reasonably appealing... aw! shucks -- I LOVE THIS CAFTAN WHOLLY AND WILL GO BACK FOR ANOTHER! [That is, if there are other colors left that will meet my sizing.] I am looking for ballet-type shoes to complement the garment length and my feet! :-) THIS IS A MACKIE GARMENT TO BE COMFORTABLE WITH WHEN ANSWERING THE DOOR AND WHEN COMPANY IS ABOUT, but ESPECIALLY WONDERFUL IS THE COMFORT... my 'dressy' around the house lounge pajamas take a back seat from now on! I like the idea one reviewer mentioned that she will wear this caftan even in winter with an over-blouse, cardigan, or blouse underneath. And another reviewer states the truth, Bob -- 'you can't just have one!' I second both of the aforesaid emotions! P.S. Have you discovered yet the Susan Graver Petite Crop Pants in great designs( A254176)?
spring version of a favorite
I own a similar style Bob Mackie piece in a long-sleeve, fleecey material. I love it so much that when the zipper broke, I invested $30 into having a new zipper put in. I did not want to give up the lovely caftan.
..........So, when I saw the spring version in shorter sleeves and lighter material, I did not hesitate: I ordered two, in different colors. The fit is good, the designs on the front are lovely, and the material is fluid and comfy. It is not a deal-breaker for me, but the reason I am giving these four stars instead of five is that the sleeve length seems awkward to me. I would have preferred a three-quarter length sleeve, I think.
..........I am sure, however, that I will get as much wear from these as I have from the winter one I already had. They will pack well for trips, be a quick put-on for answering the door ( UPS man with more goodies from QVC? ), and make me look a little more elegant when I am just relaxing at home with my husband in the evenings.
Okay but pricey
I ordered the Caftan in black. It is pretty and fits, but I don't really care for the fabric or the front bottom slit. . It meets my needs and I will keep it, but I don't really feel like it is worth the price.
I love this dress !! You look so casual on this dress at your home....
I love Bob Mackie's caftan! I am a QVC medium, and the medium fits beautifully. The black is quite elegant. I feel special to be able to relax at home adorned in such lovely embroidery and perfect style.
Love it EXCEPT...
it's beautifully finished and has really flattering shape however I was VERY disappointing at the fabric! It reminded me of the old 1970s era type polyester. It was disappointing, but I love all the rest of it so will keep it. It's a little pricey considering the fabric used. I'm very short so it hits me at the ankles, which is fine with the slit in front.
