Defective Product - electrical issue
I really thought this Dyson would be the answer to my prayers for a powerful vacuum that could do everything. I use it on wood and tile floors only. It was working great but then I had to clean out the canister. When I went to detach the cannister and unplug it from the wall outlet, both were hot. I am returning it as a defective product. There was no reason why either the plug or the motor housing should have gotten so hot after using it for 15 minutes. I also think that there is a problem with the filter. The area below the top of the canister was filled with dust which was never pulled down into the canister. Perhaps that is what is causing the overheating or the overheating was causing the unit to malfunction. Am very disappointed.

STINKS OF PET ODOR !
We have 2 big Basset hounds and they seem to Shed all year, Lotta Hair on&in the rugs.We vaccuum about every 2 days and we have to completely clean this vacuum every time we use it. If we don't clean it every time it SMELLS REALLY BAD from the dog hair. This vacuum is not easy to clean !!! I have to wash every piece in hot soapy water, it is a pain in my arss !! This vacuum has no way to control odor ! I just bought a eurika "PET LOVERS MIGHTY MITE" for $ 85.00 . IT WORKS GREAT AND WAS $400.00 dollars cleaper !! DON'T BUY THIS VACUUM !!!! Will be putting this DYSON on CRAIGS LIST !!!

LOVE IT!!!!
i love this vaccum so much that when we got it i told my wife i was doing the sweeping for now on. would recommend to any one. very easy to setup and use. does a wonderful job on my floors.

Vacuum worked well for 5-6 months then the off and on button went bad. Called QVC and they stated to return it. My fault I tossed the box. They allowed us to find a box and they sent us a new one without issue.

Flat Entry Point Makes Vacuum Practically Useless
Bought this as a Christmas Gift for my wife. Loved the red color and the easy pay and free shipping. The problem is a design flaw that cannot be overcome by the user of this machine. Unlike every other vacuum we have ever owned, items that get suctioned up into the hose that are larger than a grain of sand are blocked from making it into the canister by a flat, spatula-shaped connector that the hose mounts on. After using the vacuum for light duty cleaning around the house over a 3-week period we were baffled by a sudden loss of suction. We took apart the entire device and discovered that small cat hair balls and other particles were stuck in this flat entry area and were causing the suction to all but shut down completely. The only way to clear the path is to turn the device upside down and shake out these small items. WHAT A MESS! How a company can design a vacuum that stops functioning simply because it is doing its job picking up objects that easily fit through the hose is beyond comprehension.

Dyson DC39 Canister
Loving my new Dyson canister vacuum. It is light enough to move around and yet very powerful. We have two two kitties, one of which is a long hair, and it picks up pet hair very quickly and easily. Love the fact that it's bagless, and there is a nice assortment of attachments. Very pleased with my purchase!

Just What I Wanted
Wanted a canister (wood, tile, area rugs, carpet) that would be as good as the 40 year old Electrolux I inherited from my parents. I learned to use a canister vacuum to dust furniture as a kid (Electrolux had natural bristle brushes as soft as a paint brush). Cleaned houses for extra money when my kids were small and had to use all kinds of clumsy uprights. Hated them. My old Electrolux can only be run for short periods without overheating and had other issues due to age. Also, I wanted new technology filtering. Had been looking at Dyson and others for some time. Saw this as a daily special in the summer and didn't get it. When I was looking again this fall and saw QVC still had this deal and compared it to other deals available, even with holiday sales, I realized this was a great deal with all the attachments, etc. and ordered. Still, I was worried I wouldn't like it. **It is TERRIFIC!! After using for several months, I love it!**
It is easy to use, light, does a great job, has very useful attachments, is easy to keep clean itself. Use the long dusting brush to dust furniture, even my antiques. Very soft
bristles with holes that lessen suction. Floor attachments gently clean rugs, wood floors, and yet is efficient on carpet. Attachments easy to get on and off.

Works great for me. I have a bad back and this Dyson is lightweight. I can handle it well.
Really sucks up the dirt. A little hard to put the dust bin back on ( which is why I gave it 4 stars)but I think it will get easier the more I use it.

Dog Hairs Watch Out!
I purchased this to manage the dog hairs that my Basset Hounds share with us daily.
This machine is easy to put together, easy to use, and especially easy to clean. I love seeing the dog hairs in the canister and what this machine is removing daily!
I would recommend this machine to anyone who is battling dog hairs on hardwood or carpet. Very Satisfied with this purchase.

I need a motorized beater bar. Owing 3 long haired cats, a non motorized beater bar does not work for me.

Awesome!!
I love it!! It is light, easy to move up and down the stairs and it holds alot of dirt. The only thing I am having trouble with is getting the dirt out of the canister...maybe I just need some practice. Over all it is a great product and I love it!!!

Big Disapointment Compaired to the DC 21
After 6 years of having a DC21 I had to get a new Canister Vac so I naturally thought I would get the newest model the DC39! I have to tell you I have a very clean home and lots of area to clean both carpet and hard floor.... My first impression was that they have really went to a low quality plastic compared to the DC21 and the way the canister attaches is not easy to take on or off! I decided to use the Dyson on my carpet and was very disappointed when it came because the power head isn't motorized by a motor it turns by air! As soon as I touched the carpet the brushes stopped! I don't mean slowed down just stopped! I picked it up off the carpet and the went like crazy! I even lowered the wand to the lowest setting which left me bending over to Vac a very large room and it still did the same thing. The carpet is not high pile it is just average builders carpet so I know it isn't the pile of the carpet.... I did the entire room twice and still had almost nothing in the canister ! So I got out my Rumba and ran it a normal cycle and boy was I surprised half way through it was FULL!!!! I had just used the Dyson twice a few min before !! I also need to say that I had not Vacuumed my floor for 2 days prior to really test the machine out and also because I had to wait for it to arrive in the mail.. I have one child and one cat and the room is not a high traffic area in any way! I loved my old DC21 and am currently looking for one because the DC39 has gone back!
