not easy to grow as advertised I received this plant on May 9, 2012. I had the same result as other owners it has lost all its leaves and looks dead. I just called Robertas & was told it is considered an annual. Needless to say it will be my last purchase from Robertas. 04-24-13
Wow!! how much fun! beautiful and different! I live in Arizona and thought looks like something that can handle the heat and it can! no blooms my first year but it is COVERED in blooms this year!! so exciting!! had a hard time with cold and I put it outside too early and thought I had done it in..but it forgave me! slow growing for sure, but so exciting. my blooms are a little different than the picture they are huge! and complex color from wild fuchia to white inside. Wish I could include a picture!! thanks! 04-23-13
Belongs in the Desert This is the worst performing plant I ever owned. Bought this last year, put it on a sunny patio...in the sun, and got all of three flowers last year. Come fall, I brought it in the house and put it in a sunny window. Not only were there no more flowers, but the leaves dried up and fell off. The Roberta's Rep said on TV that you didn't have to water this through winter, but the poor plant looked like it needed something so I gave it a little drink. I think this proved fatal because it just couldn't get enough sunshine from my winter windows, and it rotted in the pot. I finally threw it out last week. This poor plant really belongs in a sunny desert climate. I hope I have better luck with a few of the plants I ordered from Roberta's this spring, or it is doubtful I will order anything from them again. 04-10-13
Tried But Died Had it for about 9 months. Lost leaves when it first arrived but then started to grow. No flowers but was hanging in there and then, wham, it died! Happened so quickly, too. 03-28-13
so disappointed I purchased this plant and looked so forward to receiving it. When I did receive it the plant looked fairly healthy as would most plants that were shipped in that fashion. I placed it out on my deck and the leaves were pretty all summer though the plant never bloomed. I babied it and brought it in before the first frost here in NC. it wasn't long before all the leaves fell off and the tips of the limbs started to shrivel up. I called Robertas and was told that the plant was only covered by a 90 day warranty. Since I received it in June and it stayed outside in the warm summer days it easily made it through those 90 days. So what I got was a green plant that lasted through the summer..never bloomed and quickly died after coming inside. Guess I am out $30.00 but I learned a valuable lesson. 03-25-13
Not A Good Buy Plant did not begin blooming until mid summer because it was shipped too early to go outside. Eventually, a few blooms did appear. When it came into the house, leaves dropped immediately. I watered every 2wks, but it looks Dried up and bad. Will request refund. Did not do good in this area. 03-20-13
How can they call an annual I had ups and downs with this plant. It did make one flower with a few leaves and then it was downhill from there. I have tried to make it come back to life over the past several months but no luck. I went to see the warranty which I thought would be one year, but it is only 90 days. When I purchased this last year they showed a large plant that was like 3 years old....how can this be an annual. I actually purchased a few plants last year from QVC and as someone else said I saw them at a local home improvement store for a lot less money. Check your warranty on your plants. 03-20-13
Confusing Plant I bought this last year and when it came, it was nothing but a "stick". Kept it out in full, hot sun all summer.....nothing. Brought it in for the winter and put in southern exposure window....2 tiny leaves appeared on top and that was it! Contacted Roberta's this year and they told me that since it is an annual, they won't replace it. Why is it considered an annual if they tell you it will bloom from summer to winter and then bring it in for the winter and then show you on TV that the trunk grows bigger and bigger each year? In my opinion, that would be a perennial. 03-15-13
Please read warnings on plant directions. This plant has done fine for me, but now I have a chihuahua puppy and I am scared to death of it. It is a member of the oleander family and every part of this plant is deadly if ingested, that means dropped leaves, sap and flowers. So if you have little children, puppies or kittens that put everything in their mouths, beware. I am going to have to find another home for mine. I like the plant, the flowers were beautiful and is is very different. It hasn't wintered well, but I am sure it will come back when put back outside. 03-13-13
i got flowers I bought the star desert flower plant last year in summer. The plant did not get as big as I thought it would, but I had beautiful red flowers all through December. Still growing great I am very happy with the plant. I would recommend as great gifts for family and friends. I give this 5 stars 02-16-13
One Star for being alive Ditto to every negative review. Two years, gets a few leaves, they fall off. Never had any luck from Roberta's, and found that most of their "special" plants can be found larger and less expensive at garden stores here in Florida 02-16-13
Bloomed all Summer I ordered this plant thinking I would have problems with it because of the reviews but decided to give it a try. I live in southwest Ohio and it was really hot here last summer. I planted it in a shallow pot as instructed using dirt for succulent (cactus) plants and set it out on my deck which gets at least 7 hours of direct sun a day. I watered it a little every day because it would get bone dry and it bloomed all summer long. I hated having to bring it in the house in the fall. It lost quite a few leaves but they started budding back quickly. In the house I water it a little about every 3 or 4 days and it looks really pretty. No blooms during the winter just leaves. I'm looking forward to putting it outside again this summer. 02-16-13
