About Rachael Ray

It comes as no surprise that Rachael Ray is a household name in the kitchen. After all, her passion for the culinary craft surfaced at a very early age. “My first vivid memory is watching my mom in a restaurant kitchen. She was flipping something with a spatula. I tried to copy her and ended up grilling my right thumb! I was 3 or 4,” she says. Today, Rachael insists that cooking is a way of life she was simply born into.

Growing up in a family steeped in culinary tradition, Rachael was exposed to a wide range of cooking techniques. The Ray family owned several restaurants in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, before relocating to upstate New York, where her mother worked as the food supervisor for a restaurant chain. Rachael soon moved to New York City to work at Macy’s, first at the candy counter and then as a manager for the Fresh Foods Department, which she credits for her education in gourmet foods. After Macy’s, Rachael helped open Agata & Valentina, the prestigious New York gourmet marketplace where she was the store manager and buyer.

Despite the exciting lifestyle in the foodie circles of New York City, Rachael decided to move back to upstate New York and start managing pubs and restaurants at the famed Sagamore Resort on Lake George. From there, she was recruited by Cowan & Lobel, a large gourmet market in Albany, as their food buyer and, eventually, their “chef.”
As a way to increase grocery sales during the holidays, Rachael created a series of cooking classes, which exploded in popularity. The CBS station in Albany-Schenectady, WRGB-TV, discovered Rachael and signed her on to do a weekly “30-Minute Meals” segment for the evening news. The segment was a major success, with a companion cookbook selling 10,000 copies locally during the holidays. With that, a franchise was born!

Now Rachael enjoys her status as an iconic Food Network television personality, best-selling cookbook author, and editor-in-chief of her own lifestyle magazine. In the fall of 2007, she launched Rachael Ray, her hugely successful syndicated daytime talk show.

Showcasing Rachael’s warmth, energy, and boundless curiosity, the show — produced by CBS Television Distribution and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions — invites viewers to experience life the Rachael Ray way. Credited with getting America back in the kitchen with her easy approach to cooking, Rachael takes the same philosophy with her show — finding simple solutions to everyday problems, both in the kitchen and beyond.

“My life has been a total accident — a very happy, wonderful accident that I didn’t and couldn’t have planned,” says Rachael. Despite her growing celebrity she’s determined to stay grounded and hold on to her down-to-earth values. Rachael still spends as much time as she can at her cabin in the Adirondacks with her husband, John, her family — the “research team” — and her beloved pit bull, Isaboo.

Great Product Got this for a friend for Christmas in the blue...she collects the blue in Rachael's collection. She was tickled pink (I mean blue) with her gift!!! 03-18-14
More Like This, Please! I ordered the square in green, and I just love it. I appreciate the handles, and it looks great in my modern kitchen. I got it for Thanksgiving, and I've used it every week since. It cooks and cleans perfectly. Nothing bad to say. Thank you, Rachel, for having great, modern pieces! Most of the kitchenware on the Q is old world style and not for my stainless steel and white kitchen. 12-30-13
Good Product Love the size, weight (for stoneware this piece is light) and the price with free shipping. The cleanup is easy when you use Pam cooking spray as a non stick helper. The one flaw this Baker has is its shallow bottom. You can not make comfort casseroles or lasagna the way they should be made in this baker for they will spill over. Rachael please make deeper. 12-28-13
wheres the cover i'm a singe person that became very interested in this small dish when rachael mentioned you could make a small lasagna. it still needs a cover. i don't see any way to keep the air out with left overs. other than that it's a great dish. 12-06-13
Bubble and brown covered 3.5 Qt. I used two of the bakers with lids for Thanksgiving. Everyone loved the bakers. They do make a very nice presentation. I thought they would wash and we would not not have to do a lot of labor cleaning them. I will try and put oil and coat them when I use them one more time. I will not return them and then will donate them. Do not want to pay shipping. Very disappointed. Thought they would clean better than advertised. Also followed all of the directions included. I will try temptations next. I only did vegetable casseroles which did not work for the cleaning. 11-29-13
What an ugly color! I just opened my package about 4 mins. ago and was horrified at what an ugly color green it was. The color on the QVC page was not even close to the color I got, I can only wonder how gross the food will look in this grayish green color.I wish I just ordered the white one then you know what your getting. Will have to return this item I just can't keep this ugly green it reminds me the movie with Linda Blair, the scary one. 11-21-13
nice but.. I bought this in blue, it's very pretty BUT very heavy. That's the only thing that I didn't like about this baking dish. 05-03-13
Perfect I am slowly buy gradually replacing my oven bakeware with this brand. I am purchasing the single items in red or blue. The bright colors blend perfectly with each other. My main like is --- the handles. It is so nice to have something to hold onto when you are taking a hot dish out of the oven. 03-10-13
Love It I absolutely love your line of ceramic bakeware! I would like to make one suggestion, could you please glaze the bottom of the bakers! I just received my new set that was your most recent todays special value and I love it and cant wait to get more pieces but I would love to see the bottoms glazed like the dish! Thanks 02-18-13
My kind of dish---handles!! I am sold on this dish. I used it for making candy for Christmas and enjoyed the handles and the size and convenience of the stoneware. It is not too heavy to pick up and is just right for anyone to bake and make their favorites with a Grand daugher who loves to cook also! The handles are great! I definately will purchase more Racheael Ray bakeware. 12-26-12
LOVE! I have had both this 2 qt as well as the lasagna pan for several months now and they are THE BEST! Not only is clean-up a breeze, but the handles are fabulous. I am 55 years old and have neuropathy and arthritis my right arm, and arthritis in my left hand. Becase of the over-sized handles, I can easily lift these dishes in and out of the oven without having to call to my husband for help. I just ordered the 4.25 qt covered casserole and am looking forward to using that well into the future. 08-30-12
