About Rachael Ray

It comes as no surprise that Rachael Ray is a household name in the kitchen. After all, her passion for the culinary craft surfaced at a very early age. “My first vivid memory is watching my mom in a restaurant kitchen. She was flipping something with a spatula. I tried to copy her and ended up grilling my right thumb! I was 3 or 4,” she says. Today, Rachael insists that cooking is a way of life she was simply born into.

Growing up in a family steeped in culinary tradition, Rachael was exposed to a wide range of cooking techniques. The Ray family owned several restaurants in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, before relocating to upstate New York, where her mother worked as the food supervisor for a restaurant chain. Rachael soon moved to New York City to work at Macy’s, first at the candy counter and then as a manager for the Fresh Foods Department, which she credits for her education in gourmet foods. After Macy’s, Rachael helped open Agata & Valentina, the prestigious New York gourmet marketplace where she was the store manager and buyer.

Despite the exciting lifestyle in the foodie circles of New York City, Rachael decided to move back to upstate New York and start managing pubs and restaurants at the famed Sagamore Resort on Lake George. From there, she was recruited by Cowan & Lobel, a large gourmet market in Albany, as their food buyer and, eventually, their “chef.”

As a way to increase grocery sales during the holidays, Rachael created a series of cooking classes, which exploded in popularity. The CBS station in Albany-Schenectady, WRGB-TV, discovered Rachael and signed her on to do a weekly “30-Minute Meals” segment for the evening news. The segment was a major success, with a companion cookbook selling 10,000 copies locally during the holidays. With that, a franchise was born!

Now Rachael enjoys her status as an iconic Food Network television personality, best-selling cookbook author, and editor-in-chief of her own lifestyle magazine. In the fall of 2007, she launched Rachael Ray, her hugely successful syndicated daytime talk show.

Showcasing Rachael’s warmth, energy, and boundless curiosity, the show — produced by CBS Television Distribution and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions — invites viewers to experience life the Rachael Ray way. Credited with getting America back in the kitchen with her easy approach to cooking, Rachael takes the same philosophy with her show — finding simple solutions to everyday problems, both in the kitchen and beyond.

“My life has been a total accident — a very happy, wonderful accident that I didn’t and couldn’t have planned,” says Rachael. Despite her growing celebrity she’s determined to stay grounded and hold on to her down-to-earth values. Rachael still spends as much time as she can at her cabin in the Adirondacks with her husband, John, her family — the “research team” — and her beloved pit bull, Isaboo.

Rachael Rat Tools & Gadgets 2pc Set Lazy Spoon& La Great and useful products, well worth the price! A +++++++++++++ 12-22-14
LOVE these Love the spoon and ladle! We use these all the time and are thrilled with them. Being able to have them rest on the pan is genius!! Cleanup great and they feel like they will last forever! 11-02-13
I liked it... So I like these spoons...they feel good in the hand, a little heavy though. They sit nice on a pan. However, I have a couple concerns...the spoon is not big enough to fit much on it....just good for stirring. I've been in my house for 2 weeks so far, cooked very little and started using these spoons upon moving in. The smell of the food is retained in the material of the spoon. Ive washed it MULTIPLE times and they STINK! Not sure what to do about it. 10-30-13
BEST SPOONS I have several sets of these spoons. I don't use anything else. I love them and can't say enough about them. Just get a set and you' ll see. 12-03-12
Not for Left Handers I love the product idea and work wonderful if you are right handed. I am left handed and had a lot of problems. I gave them away. Rachael should make some for the left handed consumers, I would love to buy some it she did. 11-18-12
Love These! I can't believe how nice and sturdy these tools are! LOVE that they can be rested on the sides of pots with falling in! Definitely glad I bought these. Thanks! 06-18-12
Need a Xmas Gift for anyone? Look no more If you ever need a gift for any gender, under 20 dollars for any gift exchange, PERFECT. It might be April but I will be ordering more for next December's gifts. Spoons are a lot heaver than they look. 04-02-12
Lazy does it Smart product. Multi tasking and efficient. I loved the deep purple on the screen but when they arrived the color is closer to black than purple. Still love them! 01-19-12
Love them, but... I absolutely love these. I bought them for my mother, and whenever I go over and cook, I use them religiously. I only have one complaint...Why dont they come in Left handed styles??? I would have several sets more if they did... 10-26-11
LOVE these! I have had these for a few years! LOVE them, use them all the time when cooking! Just stick them in the dishwasher and they're ready to use again! Rest easily on my pots and pans, so great, highly recommend! 10-18-11
Still Like New I have had these for about a year and they still look like new. I bought the set in green. They do not stain, they don't get cut in the dishwasher. Why didn't someone come up with this idea years ago? Makes stirring/serving much less messy, no worries about anyone burning their hands on hot equipment and yet they are so sturdy! Thanks, Rachael and QVC! 08-16-11
