The most significant source of ametrine is from the Anahi mine in Southeastern Bolivia. Bolivian legend is that ametrine first became popular in the 17th century when a Spanish conquistador received it as a dowry when marrying an Ayoreo Indian princess named Anahi. The Anahi mine, named after the princess, is the only mine known where ametrine is naturally occurring.

Absolutely beautiful--and unique. Stunning and enchanting, this 14K yellow gold enhancer's centerpiece--and rightfully so--is an 8.85 carat faceted Ametrine with a tapered baguette amethyst and round, bead-set citrine gemstones. The head-turning piece was inspired by the collection at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History's National Gem Gallery.

A lovely piece This is a statement piece. The ametrine is clear--although the gem I recieved wasn't quite as deep in color as the one online---I am still in love and chose to keep it. In my opinion the best part about this necklace is the intricate gold worked around the stones. Thanks a million QVC and Smithsonian....I adore it. 01-24-13

Lovely Although I will likely return this enhancer, it is quite lovely. The ametrine is clear and has beautiful colors; there is a good amount of gold in the design of the enhancer; and the chain is a nice weight. All in all, this piece of jewelry is very attractive and well made. I also think it is great buy on clearance. For me, however, the enhancer is not as large as I would like. It would be perfect for anyone, however, who prefers a small-to-medium-sized pendant. 09-10-12
