Just runs too large
I liked this ring enough to order it twice hoping that the size 7 I ordered the first time would run smaller the second time, but no, it is more like an 8 and way too big. I also wish it was scaled down a bit, since it is really very large, (LONG) and eats up my finger even though my fingers are longer that the average. When I got the first one, I checked to see it there was a size 6 hoping that that would also run large enough to fit my index finger, but the 6 was not offered even on wait list. The same is true now so I still can't get it and maybe it's just as well since it really is too large for my hand..Carolyn, make this on a little smaller scale please; it really is a stunner...
I would not recommend it as a gift only because of the inconsistent sizing..

UNUSUAL RING
This is a very unique ring, which is why I ordered it. When I received the rings (I ordered my daughter one too), I found that they both looked more like abalone than black mother of pearl and the crystal quartz on top looked almost like resin (maybe due to the swirl texture). The ring also cut into my knuckle and I have really long fingers. I just wasn't thrilled and returned them.

SHIMMERING, SCINTILATTING, SHIMMER COLLECTION RING
…ANOTHER SHIMMER SUCCESS! THAT IS…. I received the Shimmer Earrings (J305531) first and they made a big hit with my earlobes! Now, the Shimmer Ring has arrived and I am strongly drawn to this creative design. And yes, it is OUT OF THIS WORLD! PLUS, COLLOQUIALLY SPEAKING -- ‘IT KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF’! WHAT A BEAUTY, CAROLYN, it is a treasure to add to my already significant stock of Carolyn Pollack designs. The shining sterling with the centered gemstone quartz and grey mother-of-pearl cabochon in a ripple effect catches rays of light in differing hues of colors. The ADVENTURE IN THIS RING calls up Blue Lace Agate, Rhodonite, Dolomite, Aventurine, or Black Onyx. The bezel setting comprises the ripple-design setting as well, adding to the enhancement of the carved oval doublet. Size 9 for my middle/index finger is a smooth fit. Amplified colors escape the underlying mother-of-pearl -- I see pink, purple, green, gray, plus a rosy and magenta allure. The written SHIMMER profile speaks volumes: “A ripple moves across the smooth surface of a pond, entrancing viewers with its gentle dance of sun and shadow. Carolyn captures this movement of water and the play of light upon it with a double of carved crystal quartz over gray mother-of-pearl in a fluid setting of sterling silver."

very cool
I bought the whole Shimmer shabang: cuff, enhancer, ring, earrings. I have so much jewelry that you have to really knock it out of the park to get me interested, and this collection is a grand slam. Unique, but not just for the sake of being different - it's very wearable and workable with any wardrobe. I've come to appreciate the Carolyn Pollack artistry and almost always purchase one new collection as they are presented on QVC. One thing I like is how she makes the setting part of the overall design - never the same thing twice, and I don't think I own anything that has a regular old prong. My only complaint is that the wavy band makes the ring sit slanted on my finger, but I can live with that. Definite keeper

SHIMMER is RIGHT!!!!
I'm not one to write rave reviews readily, but this ring really ROCKS! It picks up light from every direction, and amplifies the colors in the underlying mother-of-pearl - pink, green, gray, purple, rose, magenta. Carolyn Pollack's artistry really shows by the ripple design being repeated in the sumptuous silver setting. Simply glorious! It's a hand-grabber for sure!
