The stunning Mackay Emerald was mined in Muzo, Colombia. The finest emeralds are found in the region around Muzo and Chivor, Colombia. These green gems were used by indigenous people for at least 1,000 years before the arrival of the Spanish conquistadores in the 16th century. Although spurred primarily by their passion for gold and silver, the Spanish quickly recognized the potential of the exquisite green crystals and took control of the mines.

Gorgeous in green. Framed by a rectangular setting encrusted with round and baguette simulated diamonds, an oval simulated emerald is prong set in the center of this Smithsonian Mackay necklace. Accented with two simulated emerald stations, the chain also displays openwork geometric shapes of pave-set, baguette simulated diamonds.

elegante e I love this necklace! It is absolutely beautiful . I wear a lot of green and black and it works beautifully, particularly at formal occasions. Lots of compliments. I had no issues with the large stone as mentioned in another review. Love it! 02-01-13

Gorgeous but . . . This necklace is so beautiful that it was such a hard return for me but the one I ordered had something wrong with the foil or whatever it was behind the large green stone. Totally gorgeous otherwise. 01-08-12
