Smithsonian Simulated Ruby and Diamond Bracelet
This is a beautiful bracelet and I love it so, however, the color is not red (ruby), it is pink.
I decided to keep it anyway. Tried wearing it with a ruby ring and it just looked more
pink. I have pink stones, so I guess I'll have to wear it with them. I gave it only 4 stars because of the color. I pruchased the size 8."
Very pretty bracelet.
Reproduction needs to be in Sterling Silver
The Smithsonian Museum raves about their gems then sells reproductions in cheap silvertone metals that will not sustain wear. Please QVC require a higher standard for this museum. For this Price and design it should be sterling silver. I received with one stone missing. Pretty but NOT QUALITY REPRODUCTION.
Darn, wanted to love it but it pulled on my hairs & I'm not that hairy-lol!
Also snags delicate clothes, which is strange since this is a dressy piece, of course you'd wear silky type clothes with it.
Also, a safety closure would have added a classy secure touch.
Does look "real " though, I'm just not into pain & I tried 4 different times.
They should have made the backing closed and or smooth.
Pink sapphires not rubies
Don't buy if you only want deep red rubies, otherwise it is gorgeous. Tricky clasp, but I figured it out.
Beautiful! Would Like Easy Pay!
This is truly a beautiful bracelet! Very believable! I wish it would be put back on Easy Pay for gift purchases & Christmas Gifts.
Elegance at its best!
I had yearned for this bracelet for quite some time and then when QVC offered a day of multiple easy pays on every item in their store I jumped at the chance to order this bracelet and am very happy that I did. It is very elegant looking and nothing about it gives away the fact that it is not genuine in any way. Great purchase and I recommend wearing it not only for special ocassions but for work as well. Don't hide your jewelry -- wear it!
I received this bracelet for Christmas from my husband and it is very pretty. I would say that I would give it 5 stars if the "rubies" had been a bit deeper in color. The overall bracelet is very pretty and the quality seems good but I was a little disappointed in the color of the simulated rubies. they are more of a dark pink than red, at least in my bracelet. But the style and overall appearance of the bracelet is quite art deco and I am sure it will get alot of compliments when I wear it . Overall I am pleased with it and will definitely keep it!!
this bracelet is fabulous. Yes, my larger rubies are darker, but they are larger and color increases with gem size. Clasp is a bit hard to release but I have a very small wrist so I can just slide it on. This piece can stand up next to my real bracelets and hold its own perfectly.
I returned it, I was very disappointed in the color when I received it. It was described as a ruby (red) color on the tv special and the website, but it is clearly a darker pink, which is fine if it was described as that. Therefore, I wouldn't have ordered it. I had also found the latch to take bracelet off a little tricky. Other than that it is very nice.
The bracelet is SO poorly made that it won't open/close properly. It is going back since it won't open after I tried on a couple of times. Smithsonian/QVC should not have their names attached to jewelry of such poor quality.
Can't get it off
I love the look, sparkle and design of the bracelet but I can't take it off. The clasp is not user friendly. I don't know if mine is defective but i'll return it and try a different one. Wish me luck!
Believable and Beautiful
I was a little apprehensive about buying a bracelet labeled 'silvertone' and 'simulated', but honestly the sparkle and weight are impressive. The stones have a pink tinge to them, which makes them appear as realistic rubies. I have a small wrist, so I ordered the 7.25 size. It's a little big for me, but I figure this extra room will allow the bracelet to peak underneathe holiday sweaters. The first time I wore it I rec'd compliments on how beautiful it was. Real art deco pieces run for $20,000 - $50,000, so it's nice to be able to purchase a replicate for much less. Given the quality of the design, I believe using real stones for the ruby or silver for the metal would have substantially increased the cost of this bracelet.
