Jacqueline Kennedy Foxtrot Simulated Emerald Necklace
My husband called this "hideous."
I gravitate towards all of the pieces that were passed down to Jackie from her mother and others in the styles of art deco, art nouveau, etc. I own several of them. So, naturally, I ordered this one too. But, I have to admit, I wasn't sure what I thought of it when I first opened the box. Some pieces in the collection translate better than others into "fashion" (not "real") jewelry. This one, not so much. When I showed it to my husband, he didn't have a good reaction. After a couple of days of leaving the box open and passing by the necklace, I didn't warm-up to it and, when asked about it again, my husband said he didn't want to be mean but he found it hideous. So ... I knew I'd never be wearing it around him and feeling good about it. :/ I sent it back and hope that it will make someone else very happy.
I have to agree with others - it is rather cheap looking. Beautiful design and color but looks too much like really cheap costume jewelry. Not worth the price. Am returning.
I have had my eye on this necklace for a long time and when I saw that the JBK collection was going to be retired, I knew that it if I waited any longer I may never have the opportunity to own one. It really is stunning. Very unique. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars is because it isn't quite as heavy as I had hoped. It is very light weight. It truly is one of the prettiest pieces that I own.
Thought it would be larger
I ordered this after reading several reviews that mentioned it was very large, I don't think it is large enough. It is a beautiful necklace, looks elegant but I usually wear larger statement necklaces. I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to keep it. It is quite a lovely necklace so I'll have to think it over. If you are looking for a nice piece of affordable fashion jewelry, this is could very well be a keeper.
J. K. Foxtrot Necklace 'title'
It"s totally understandable to me why this necklace was titled "foxtrot". It was designed originally from the early 20th century popular dance, the foxtrot which the wteps actually form a square. When taking a ballroom dance class, it is so easy that it is often the first dance that is taught.
This pendant has an outline around the square or box to follow. Since Jackie's mother had one, she would have danced in high society and be familiar with this dance.
The male presenter did not know why it was named the foxtrot, but I'm sure my analogy should help.
Have a great day.
Gaudy and Cheap-Looking
I love the pieces from the Jacqueline Kennedy collection and own many. However, this is the first piece I've ever returned. It's gaudy and cheap looking. The usual fine workmanship of pieces in this collection is missing here.
I really wanted to love this necklace but it was way too big. If it was half the size I would have kept it.
This is one of my favorite pieces from the JBK collection. It is well-made and the chain is perfectly suited to the design and looks quite real. The design itself is unique. Kudos on this one.
Very nice !
I love it and hope to wear it at Christmas. It is quite big and you'll be noticed so be prepared for that. The chain is nice on this necklace which it wasn't on another one in this collection. It looks real, if you allow it to be the center piece of what you have on.
This necklace was much larger than antisapated but sure not dissapointed. It's gourgous.
This is one of the most unusual necklaces I own. I have nothing else that remotely looks like this. It is very brilliant in color ( the emeralds and ruby) and looks stunning with black. If you are looking for something that sophisticated and differant from what everyone else is wearing I recommend this necklace!
Don't hesitate a second to order this!
Absolutely stunning. Bold and beautiful. Well made. Words cannot adequately describe how different and amazing this is. You will love it. I do. TV never comes close to describing how beautiful this is.
