0.70 ct tw Alexandrite & Diamond Accent Pendant, 14K
While on vacation in Myrtle Beach my girlfriends and I went to the QVC outlet in the Tanger Outlet Mall. The lady at the jewelry counter mentioned she had an alexandrite necklace and ring there. I have always wanted alexandrite because both of my sons are born in June and I don't like pearls. They had this necklace there and a ring. My friends talked me into buying both. I did get them for a really good price. Both the ring and the necklace change color. They go from a pretty green to a deep purple. In the sun the green actually looks like a green apatitle. Granted, the stones are small, but they are very pretty and sparkly. The diamonds in both are small but very sparkly also. Overall, I am very happy to finally have some alexandrite, and the bonus of a beautiful color change and lots of sparkle.
NO color change, CHEAP chain, NOT worth $$$
I put in dark closet for days, then in bright sunlight...same color. Stays minty green. To have an expensive pendant on this cheap, thin breakable chain is unheard of. Both types of gem stones have no sparkle at all. ALL VERY, VERY DULL. Worse purchase ever! Do not waste your time or money.
Don't waste your time purchasing this pendant--THERE IS NO COLOR CHANGE. I tried three (3) different types of lighting, I sent it back the next day.
I love my pendant with chain. I have a June birthday and appreciate being able to get rare and exquisite gem stone jewely at a wonderful price. Especially since alexandrite are costly! My pendant is gorgeous and the the stones change color from the green to
the purplish red when in a darker area of a room. Love, love, love, it!!!!!!!
Beautiful and Elegant
I just received my pendant today. The Alexandrite is one of the birthstones for my birth month which is the month of June. I have to say I have never seen the natural stone in person.....I have only seen imitation or lab created versions of Alexandrite, I am extremely pleased with this pendant, it is absolutely beautiful. I like the size of the pendant, the chain it came with and the color of the stones are gorgeous. I know one of the characteristics of Alexandrite is that it is one of a few stones that changes colors in different lighting. I will wait to see what happens as far as that, but I can honestly say what I see right at this very minute is truly beautiful. I love it and I'm extremely satisfied!!!
Love this necklace. Much more than I expected. Every time I wear it I get compliments. The stones change from blue to green and even purple depending on the light. It is delicate looking and has become my favorite piece.
disappointing in every way
I returned the necklace on the same day I received it. The size of the pendant was good, but the quality just wasn't there especially for the price.
I was very excited to finally own my natural birthstone, unfortunately this one missed the mark. While I very much like the pendant design, the stones are such poor quality I will have to send it back... Boo. :(...
Exquisitely Well Done, QVC!
This pendant is exquisite. The design is delicate, very Edwardian-looking, but substantial. There is nothing tin-foil-like about this piece. It sparkles beautifully. As to the color-change, it isn't a radical green-to-purple change but a subtle one because of the small size of the stones. I think I read someone comment about the value for the money. From what I've seen, geniune alexandrite is hugely expensive per carat weight in the real world, if you can even find it, so I consider myself lucky to buy this piece at this price. Actually I'm thrilled that QVC even had any of this rare gemstone to sell. Will definitely be saving up to buy more.
Well done to QVC on the acquisition and offering of this beautiful piece.
Well done, well done, well done!
...the two previous reviews. Yes, it is a small pendant--smaller than expected even with dimensions provided. However, mine did have color changes between a mint green in outside light to a teal blue in indoor lighting. There was no purple or brownish reds that can be seen in some alexandrite. It does have a slight amount of weight to the pendant. With all that said, I'm still on the fence about keeping it and trying to decide whether it's really a good value for the price. Alexandrite is my Mom's birthstone and she had a very large stone of this when I was growing up and I loved to look at it's color changes. Sadly, through the years it was misplaced. Good Alexandrite is difficult and expensive to find but I just might keep looking instead of keeping this one.
The style of the pendant is really pretty. I was hoping it would have been a little larger. I did not see any color change when it was put in different lights. It is not a good value for the price. I would have liked to have a certificate verifying the alexandrite stones.
Dream Come True!
I was so excited to see that QVC has finally been able to bring Alexandrite to us! After years of being disappointed with all of the not even close imitations, my dream of being able to acquire my natural birthstone has finally come true. I received this enhancer yesterday and wore it to a work related dinner and had several people comment on it and ask if the stones were a blue or a green diamond. I was able to say with much pride - Neither. These are Alexandrite!
Not only am I pleased with the stones, but the vintage yellow gold setting is just my style! I cannot wait to find other coordinating pieces. Thank you, QVC!
