Auld Sod Blarney Castle and Irish Field of Shamrocks
Great Decoration for St. Patrick's Day!
This set is really cute, and certainly competitively priced against decorations out in the market place. And you won't find anything else like this out there! Every piece is labeled Made in Ireland, so I feel good about that. Yes, the seeds are expired, so I'm not even giving them a try. Instead, I have two great options to suggest to others considering buying it. One, use it as a shallow candy dish (for wrapped candies, like those little flat green mints). :) Second, I'm pretty sure that I could use faux grass like they use for model train sets to fill in the tray, and maybe even put in paths, little trees, etc. Great idea, right?
I do have to say that the glue failed on the blarney rock in my kit as well, so I'll have to re-glue it, which shouldn't be too hard. Still glad I have mine!
We have some Irish Blood. I got this for my son who has Down Syndrome. He buys his grammy flowers all the time so I thought this would be a fun garden for him.
Seeds are still old stock and expired
While I really like the idea of having a part of Ireland since I'll probably never get there, I'm seriously disappointed that the shamrock seeds are from the same expired stock (December 2013) previously mentioned by other customers. I expected new seeds at this point. No I haven't planted them yet but I don't expect them to sprout given the fact they haven't before. In addition, the "coin" that was supposed to be attached to the piece of "Blarney Stone" was not attached because the adhesive failed; apparently glue that failed due to age. I'll likely keep the product but, again, I'm disappointed.
I ordered my Blarney Castle and Field of Shamrocks the first time it was on air. I got it to show not to grow. I have enjoyed it every year with other Irish things.
I give it 5 stars.
Still waiting for the seeds to sprout. They had an expiration date of December 2013 so I'm concerned about that.
No the seeds probably won't grow but at the price now its cute to decorate with, you get an actual part of the blarney stone and seeds from Ireland so :) give it a go. Its around a foot long by half a foot wide and the details are good. I'd recommend getting the coasters as a more usable item.
Love It, Love It, Love It.
I absolutely adore this Blarney Castle and stone. It is just an adorable display. I planted the seeds today, and will wait to see what happens. Even if they don't grow, I'll just enjoy looking at my " little piece of Ireland." Thanks.
Seeds expired. Nothing Grew. Disappointment
Got this earlier this year. Opened in Feb and planted with my grand-daughter. The pack of seeds expired in Dec 2013. But we were hopeful. Nothing grew even though we were diligent with the directions. Very disappointed. Why sell a kit with expired seeds???
QVC did do the right thing and gave me my money back.
out of date seeds-wouldnt grow
why would qvc sell out of date seeds, didnt grow,,wasted money and embarrassed..it was a gift
I HAVE ORDERED TWO OF THESE, AND I LOVE THEM! GRANTED, I COULD NOT GET THE SHAMROCKS TO GROW, BUT I HAVE PUT THE KISS OF DEATH ON MANY A PLANT, SO I JUST PUT THE IRISH SOIL IN THEM, AND LET THEM SIT OUT. THE ARE WONDERFUL, AND I LOVE HAVING THEM.
I adore this!
I found this item adorable. Granted the shamrocks may struggle in time as it really isnt deep enough to support thier roots. I put my shamrocks in a pot and they are doing great. I went with pretty green sand and some special glass stones in this to sit on my Irish table just as a cute collectable. So cute!!
not worth the price
i received this about month ago. ordered it for my wife. the seed that were enclosed appaently were bad. the have not done anything. no sprouts or anything. and yes the are in a sunny location. watered regulary but still nothing.while its a cute little setup i dont think it is even close to the price.
