So So Zumba
I have mixed feelings about this. I really want to love it but I just like it some. Some workouts were too easy going and didn't get my heart rate up at all! Others were too hard and then others, like toning, I liked but my back would end up hurting after working out and I don't have back issues. I was disappointed that there wasn't a cool down or a stretch on the dvds. The instructions were superb! Music was great. Loved the audio cd which I normally would not care for but they were fun and got me excited to workout. I guess it may be a personal decision on this but it was not for me.

WORKOUTS WITH A SMILE
This is my second Zumba purchase. I am 53 and get great results while enjoying myself. The only complaint I have is trying to follow the workout guide book. Several of the workouts in the guide schedule are not included in the DVD. But, I can work around that, it's just an inconvenience at first. I would also like to suggest that future kits be offered with an option to buy it at a cheaper price without the toning sticks and all the extras that were in other sets. It just seems redundant to keep getting toning sticks with each new set. Overall, the workout is great. I love the fact that I start and end the workouts with a huge smile on my face! I haven't ever been able to say that before with any other workout routine.

New to Zumba
I received my workout package and was very pleased with all that was included in the pretty box it arrived in. I love that there are instructions on how to follow along step by step - it has a beautiful cookbook included and weights (light - easy to use), and they teach you the steps as a starter. I'm a klutz and I always turn the wrong way and don't always get my feet in the right place - but I don't care - I love the workout. I've only just started so I'm looking forward to sharing this with friends and trying out the additional DVDs - which there are a lot of!!! Yah!
I personally think this was a very nice package and I'm excited to see how things go as I get more into it.

Difficult to modify intensity
To begin with, I was very leary of purchasing a Zumba product. Although I have no doubt about the benefits of doing these routines, I do question whether it is realistically possible to adequately adjust the intensity of the dance moves to an older or less physically fit group of people. As always these videos show men and women doing the routines who are at the top of their fitness level. In my opinion, individuals who have not done exercise in a while or who are heavier, will have challenges just getting through the warm up portion. I am an average size 12, took dancing classes for years and even taught aerotics and total fitness during my military career, but I knew after trying the first DVD that this was going to be too intense for me. The squats were done at a rapid pace, making it difficult for anyone with joint problems. If you have any back issues, the swift turns and fast rotating movements could be an issue as well. Obviously these tapes are excellent for people who are already in great shape and wish to maintain it. But, I would prefer exercise routines that don't make a person feel defeated before they even finish the first tape. Please bring us moderate level exercise programs that we don't have to modify ourselves; fun and practical routines with realistic instructors who don't look like they work out twenty-four hours a day. Additionally, another stress regarding these tapes is they are done on a smooth floor surface. Have you ever tried doing salsa like movements on carpet and in very supportive gym shoes? It feels clutsy and your feet drag and cannot keep pace with the instructor. Cmon QVC, find regular fitness instructors who can still get us in shape, but who dress like we dress at the gym (like shorts and t-shirts) and who don't feel the need to wink throughout the entire workout. After all, we are trying to get fit with them, not flirt with them.
